She opened her eyes and sat up like waking from a nightmare. The harsh sunlight that filled her room greeted her. She groaned and let her body fall back on her queen-sized bed. She reached for her phone on her bedside table.
No new messages.
She didn't know why she was still expecting to hear from him. She turned him away, didn't she? She told him she was already done. She rehearsed her lines last night over and over again. She knew that somehow he will find his way to her.
She was tired of all the things that they've been doing – the games, the chases, the pushing away. All she wanted was someone to love her the way she deserves to be loved. She took a deep breath and pushed off her comforter from her body. She got off her bed and went to her window.
Below her, she saw people rushing to where they should be that morning. A woman talking on her mobile phone, a nanny pushing a stroller with a baby inside, a man getting in a Town Car. Below her, the world is still revolving. People are still going through their lives. The world didn't stop on her account. No one cared if her heart's breaking. If she has pushed the boy she loved away. And that he might not be coming back to her anymore.
As she looked at the people going through their business, a small, sad smile played at the corners of her lips. She pushed the curtains to the side, letting more sunlight come into her room. She surveyed her room, hands on her hips.
Then there was a knock on her door. Dorota peeked inside her room.
"Ms. Blair!" Her maid exclaimed, "Your room! It's so…"
"Bright?" She finished.
"Yes. You should do this more often." Her maid told her as she starts to fix her bed.
"Maybe." She answered, looking back at the people below her.
She took a deep breath and smiled at her maid.
"It's a brand new day, Dorota." She said as she reached for her robe and headed to her bathroom.
"A brand new day indeed" She whispered to herself as she looked into her mirror.
Good morning, Upper East Siders. Gossip Girl here. I heard from the early risers today that a certain window on Fifth Avenue was wide open this morning. We know that Vitamin D is very good for the skin. Is it also good for the heart, B?
