Hello out there in Internet land. This is my version of how Paige Guthrie
(a.k.a. Husk) came to be living with the X-Men. Remember all characters are
property of Marvel Comics and aren't mine in any sense of the word. Enjoy.

"Oh my God. I'm finally here," Paige Guthrie whispered to herself. She supposed there was no turning back, well at least at this point. Paige had made it from Generation X all the way to the big leagues: The X-Men.
"Whaddya say?" the cabbie said. Paige shook her head.
"Nothing, sir."
The cabbie laughed. "I ain't never been called 'sir' b'fore. You sure you from 'round here?"
Paige smiled. "Well not originally. I'm really from Kentuc--"
The cabbie laughed again.
"You ain't from 'round here, sweets," he said.
Paige dropped her jaw in objection. Who did he think he was? "Sweets?" She'd teach him some manners!
"Welcome, Paige."
Paige whirled to the window, honey blonde hair whipping with her.
"Oh my God! Miss Frost!"
She jammed on the handle and flew open the door, with a big smile on her face. And fell soundly into the dirt.
"Nice move, Guthrie," Paige muttered to the ground. Miss Frost chuckled a bit, and leaned to the cab driver's window. Paige pushed herself up from the ground, and went to the back to get her things.
"Her things." Even Paige had to laugh at that. Paige's "things" were a pair of pants, a shirt, and a change of underwear. Hey, it was easy to carry.
"Thank you, dear," Miss Frost was saying, as Paige slammed the trunk down.
"Anytime sweetheart," he said. Miss Frost gave him a flirtatious smile, and leaned closer into the window.
"Miss Frost?" Paige asked hesitantly as she rounded the rear of the cab to the front.
*Just a moment, dear. I am dealing with this bag of filth. * Miss Frost's voice snapped into her head.
Paige stopped short at the gas tank. "Oh..."
"Bye-bye, now," Miss Frost said, leaning out of the window.
Paige stepped back as the cab took off, leaving a cloud of dust in its wake.
"Pig," she heard Miss Frost say flatly.
Paige walked slowly towards Miss Frost, waving the dust away from her face.
"It's good to see you again, dear," Miss Frost said. Paige forced a smile.
*Try not to think so loudly. I am a telepath, remember? *
The smile was wiped from her face.
"I'll try to remember that."
"Very nice, dear."
Miss Frost glided to the gates and swung them open. Paige hesitated for a minute, and tried to take it all in. The big, grey granite wall, the face of Xavier's mansion, the prestige...
This wasn't going to be easy.
