I stared out the window in front of me. For some reason, watching those little puffs of white powder fall from the sky always gives me a sense of tranquil satisfaction. Inside seemed so much better than that white expanse, what with its warmth and comfort, but outside this cubicle, it seemed like time was frozen; the world just waiting to be dominated by white bliss.

"If you're so captivated by it, why don't you just go outside?" A voice asked. It wasn't cold or judgmental, or even monotonic as it so often was. No, it was just curious.

"The cold and I have our differences," I answered, turning over on the couch that I had easily spent the last hour or so on. I stretched, feeling my joints crack slightly.

"You seem to have differences with everything," the silver-haired man said, sitting down next to me. With a shrug, I settled down, laying my head in my lover's lap.

"It isn't my fault the rest of the world has flaws," I said softly.

"You flatter yourself," Sephiroth accused, long fingers weaving their way through my hair.

A smirk plastered itself across my face. "Possibly," I answered. I toyed with a piece of silver hair that had fallen near my hand.

"Definitely," Sephiroth corrected, tilting my lips to meet his. The kiss was simple, and surprisingly light. Which means only one thing.

"What happened?" I asked, breaking the kiss suddenly. Anytime he was gentle, something was wrong.

Sephiroth sighed and looked away, letting his hand rest on the back of my neck. "It's nothing."

"Don't lie," I said, turning his face towards mine. Our noses were touching, lips an inch apart. "Now tell me," I ordered, fully knowing how much he wanted to forget about it and take me. I would refuse that however. I would keep my own feelings contained until I knew what had happened.

"Gen," He whispered, the syllable flowing over my face. "Please, it's nothing." He leaned his forehead against mine and letting his eyes drift shut.

I gritted my teeth and stood up, heading towards the door. "I'm going for a walk," I announced, pulling on my coat. "I'll find my way back in an hour." I made to walk out the door, having opened it moments ago, but a firm hold stopped me.

"It's our anniversary Gen," Sephiroth muttered in my ear. I froze. January… I… Suppose it was. I had spent the past few (or not quite that long) hours on the couch, gazing at snow when I should have been staring at something so much better. But there was more to what Sephiroth would say. "And I never thought we would make it this far."

So I'm not the only bastard.

"So why do you tell me this now?" I asked, turning around. "If you didn't think we would last, why had you let it continue?"

The next thing I knew lips were covering mine again, but the gentleness was gone. I wasn't sure whether I should be relieved or concerned. "Because," Sephiroth began, moving his mouth from mine over to my ear. "I love you more than I could ever have imagined." There was a quick bite on my earlobe and I felt myself melt into him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and set his head atop mine.

"I love you too," I muttered. "And I'm glad we've made it this far."

A/N: …I didn't want it to be a drabble! But it is! I wanted it to be longer… With more depth… But the story decided to stop there. And we all know that the story has supreme rule. But with that said, I kinda actually like it. It was my first (sort of...) attempt at writing this couple so let me know if things were in character or not. So please review! Over and out!

Dislaimer: I disclaim these two sexy men. But not the snow. I own the snow (yeah right. Ever heard the song "It's Raining Men"? That would be what happened if I owned the weather.)
