This is just a short drabble because Canada deserves it!
This is my first time writing Hetalia, I know it's bad, so please don't kill me! O.o
I kept seeing all the countries at the opening ceremony, and I'd think about their Hetalia counterparts.....XD Belarus, Russia, Prussia, Hungary, Japan....
Canada totally deserves this. Wow. Even though everybody may forget about it occasionally, it's managed to keep peaceful, and a good economy, and respect for wilderness. This goes out to all Canadians on Fanfiction. BE PROUD! YOU SHOULD BE!
And I don't own Hetalia, or the quote at the end. That comes from the poet at the opening ceremony.
For once, America was entranced by something that was not a hamburger. All the countries watched as the Vancouver Olympics Opening Ceremony unfolded, from the native tribe's dance at the beginning, cheering when they saw their countries come in, and falling silent at the cultural ceremony.
England nearly dropped his teacup when the whale proceeded to "swim" across the floor. As the young boy tumbled and twisted in midair, everyone sat glued to the screen. Canada sat in the back, biting his fingernails, hoping it would be enough...
When it was done, they all turned to Canada.
"Um…So…Well, we gave it our best…" The blond nation muttered awkwardly.
Something hit him full force. "WOW! Canada, that was AWESOME!" Canada choked as America proceeded to give him a hug worthy of a bear's approval.
"Beautiful, aru." China nodded.
"That was almost as awesome as me!" Prussia cheered.
"Ve! Like Pasta!"
"Or sunflowers!"
"Matti, mon fils, c'est tre, tre bon!!"
England smiled. "Good job."
Canada stared in shock at the others for a moment.
"R-Really? You mean it?"
"It was unforgettable, little bro!" America punched him happily on the shoulder.
Canada beamed.
* * *
Canada finished washing the dishes left over from the party, and slipped with a sigh of relief into the covers of his bed. Unforgettable. A warm feeling lifted up his heart, and the nation felt a humming, thrumming pride for his people.
They may be the most overlooked of the nations, the most unnoticed. But his people were happy. The beauty of the wilderness around him remained largely untouched.
And some things would stick in people's memories.
Like tonight.
Tonight he had been noticed.
He had been unforgettable.
And even if they would forget, his people wouldn't.
His people would always love him.
The best part is, we make it be.
BE PROUD, CANADIANS!!! :)
