Disclaimer: I do not own Buffy the Vampire slayer or any of the characters. They all belong to the legendary Joss Whedon.
Summary: A different comeback of Angel from hell. Oh and tons of Bangel goodness
AN: Just ecause I starred a new story does not mean I gave up on my old one and the frequency of the updates should not be affected as well. Its just that I was watching becoming part 2 and I had to write this down.
Xander had been about to get out with Giles, when he decided to stay, just in case Buffy needed backup, and to make sure that Buffy killed Angel before the spell worked. So far, Buffy was winning, not that she had another choice. The portal was open and the only solution was killing Angel.
Buffy had Angel on his knees, and was about to chop his head off when she suddenly stopped. Angel looked up causing Buffy to lower her sword.
"What the…" Xander was about to intervene when Giles stopped him.
"You go there, you get yourself killed."
Xander grudgingly listened and observed.
When one moment the slayer and the vampire were fighting each other to death, now they were in each other's arms, both in tears.
"Willow's spell" Xander whispered in horror. "The vortex… it's open… he needs to be killed."
"Give her time." Giles insisted.
"Close your eyes"
Buffy stared at the dormant statue in silence, tears streaking her face.
"Buffy" Xander approached Buffy cautiously.
"He was Angel." Buffy said blankly. "Did Willow curse him again?"
"Umm… Yeah she"
"Kick his ass!" Buffy repeated Xander's words from what seemed like a lifetime ago. "She did not say any such thing, did she?"
"No"
Buffy took a deep breath and blinked back her tears before turning to Xander. "Giles is hurt" Buffy realized. "You need to get him to the hospital." Buffy frowned slightly and bit her lower lip.
"No I am fine Buffy I" Giles tried to make his way to Buffy but failed miserably.
"Go" Buffy ordered.
"Buffy I'm so sorry, I didn't think" Xander started to take her hand when she violently retracted.
"I…" Buffy closed her eyes and swallowed before looking at him. "I know. Don't worry about it. It isn't your fault."
Xander slowly took Giles and headed towards the hospital, not hearing Buffy murmuring to herself.
"It's mine."
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
"XANDER! You're okay. Giles. Did you find him? Is he alright? He is not dead is he? And Buffy? How is she? Oh! The curse, did it work? I mean I felt something pass through me and I should probably let you speak now."
"Giles is fine. A little worn around the ages, but he will live."
"Acathla?"
"Stopped. Everything is fine Will." Xander said a little too quickly.
"Uh huh." Willow looked skeptical.
"Wil"
"Don't Wil me Xander Harris! I want the truth. Where is Buffy? Is she okay?"
"In the mansion, last I checked." Xander gulped. "She wanted to be alone."
"Angel?" Willow asked causing Xander to drop his gaze. "Xander answer me."
"You were too late Willow. The vortex was already open."
"She had to kill… Oh God. I should have never tried the spell."
"No" Xander looked up. "Don't blame yourself. This is all my fault." Xander hung his head.
"What are you…" Willow looked at her best friend with fear in her eyes. "What did you do?"
"I didn't think" Xander begged Willow through his eyes to understand. "I was just so mad…I just wanted him to pay. I…"
"Xander, what did you do?" Willow repeated.
"I didn't tell Buffy that you were trying the spell."
"NO!" Willow tried to sit up. "Tell me you are lying." Xander looked away.
"How could you?" Willow looked at him with disgust. "She loved him."
"I know. I think I finally know. The look on her face." Xander sat down in despair. "I can never forgive myself."
"Neither will she, most probably." Willow commented causing Xander to let out a mirthless chuckle.
"She already did. She said it wasn't my fault." Xander looked at his broken hand. "When she said it she looked so cold so hollow, like she wasn't really there."
SSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Buffy walked through the empty morning streets and unknowingly made her way to the place she had given her body to her lover several months ago.
The unused hinges creaked as the door was slowly opened. The room was dark and damp from the lack of any natural light. A thin sheet of dust covered the furniture while cobwebs adorned the walls. But yet nothing had changed. The statues and paintings were still in place, a lone shirt draped over the chair and the bed still unmade.
Buffy touched the red sheets, the soft silk reminding her of each caress, sigh and moan. She slowly crawled on top of the bed and put her head on the pillow. She clutched the sheets and slowly brought it to her face inhaling the smell of the vampire who she sent to hell. A sob got caught in her throat which she doggedly pushed down before closing her eyes.
"I killed you. You said you love me and I killed you…"
More to come. Angel might not come back in the next chapter. I just want to torture Buffy a little before Angel comes, not that Angel coming back will mean peaches and cream for our heroin. oops! Enough forshadowing.
Let me know if you like it... :D
