Eva's Diary Entry

(I'm going to be uploading this to Borderlands fanfiction, even though it is not, because they never thought of making a sub-category for An Inspector Calls)

To anyone reading this little thing I decided to upload to FanFiction and/or have no understanding for the story of the "An Inspector Calls", I'll explain a few things. In my English lessons, I am doing the play "An Inspector Calls", a story that was written in 1945 and based in 1912. The story's plot is this: There is a family called the Birling's, who have accidently ruining a girl's life, being visited by an inspector that goes by the name of Inspector Goole. The inspector came to visit about the suicide of the girl that was mentioned prior. This girl is called Eva Smith and she is a working-class citizen in a town called Brumley. As the story goes on, we hear each of the family's involvement with this girl. So far, I've only read up to Act 3 and I really need to continue with the story.

(Little history lesson for anyone who doesn't know their British history) There were three classes in Britain that you could be before WW2, when it changed so people are more equal: Working-class, Middle-class and Upper-class. The Working-class citizen were the poorest at the time and so they had to go to work places (mostly factories), Middle-class would be the factory owners and were much richer than the Working-class and the Upper-class were the richest citizens at the time. If you thought that was terrible, the women rights were worse. Women were the "weaker" gender and should stay at home, doing all the housework, whilst the men of the family worked so the family would stay living. Women were also not allowed to vote, which lead to the appearance of the Suffragettes, women who weren't exactly pleased with the way women were treated and would hold protests for improved rights for the female gender.

Now I'm just going to stop typing about the story of the situation at hand and let you read this piece of text I done as homework.

Dear my only friend,

It seems that I accidently come across a new member of the Birling's. As a decision I forced myself to do so, I went to the Brumley Women's Charity Organization under the name of Mrs. Birling (The surname of the man who made me pregnant), not realizing that the person in charge at the time of visiting was Sybil Birling. When I told her the forged name, she claimed I was trying to "over-throw" her by using the same name.

After giving her the lie of me being a fleeing wife from a mad husband, she claimed it, also, as outrageous and unbelievable. Even after telling her the full truth, as to how I got pregnant (without mentioning Eric's name) she disregarded as a bunch of lies and made the people of the charity to ignore my call for help.

I have been recently thinking of suicide lately so this might be my last entry I write within your old pages so…

Bye.
