Harry Potter sighed for what felt like the millionth time that day. He had spent the whole day dodging his friends which is how he found himself once again in an abandoned classroom. He had to jump into it when he saw Hermione heading his way. He just wished that she would leave him be so that he had time to think and clear his head, but apparently that was just too much to ask of her.

He loved Hermione like a sister, he really did, but he just didn't know how to show it or express it. He grew up being told that he was unloved, unworthy, and a freak so why would he let his emotions be seen by anyone other than himself? Why would he open himself up to be rejected just because a person that he cared about didn't understand where he was coming from? As much as he loved Hermione sometimes he hated how she acted because it was like she always knew best.

His head flew up when he heard the door to the classroom that he was in open. He couldn't stop himself from glaring at the girl standing in the doorway. "Bloody hell, Hermione, can't you just for once do what I ask you and leave me the hell alone?"

Hermione narrowed her eyes at Harry. "Harry, it isn't healthy for you to always be on your own. Now why don't you listen to me for once and talk about how you are feeling?"

Harry shook his head as he ran a hand through his hair. "This is just typical you, Hermione. It's always about what you want because you always know best. I want you to leave me alone. When and if I am ready to talk I will come to you, but until then you need to respect my wishes. I'm sorry if you don't like that, but that is just how it is."

He glared once more at Hermione and stormed passed her and out into the now crowded hallway. He ignored her when he heard her call his name. He had all of these feelings coursing through him, but he couldn't put a name to what they were. He didn't understand why Hermione just couldn't let it go. So what if he didn't talk about what he was feeling? So what if he just went through the motions day in and day out? At least he was breathing and living. He didn't want to let anyone in because he had no doubt that sooner rather than later that they would realize that he just wasn't worth it.

At least if he kept his emotions to himself then he wouldn't be ridiculed for them. At least if he closed himself off emotionally, then he could combat the hurt that he would eventually be inflicted with. It was just better if he kept to himself so that he didn't become attached to anyone so that way he wouldn't have to deal with the pain of watching them walk away from him when they finally realized that he was unworthy of their friendship and/or love.
