Aqua didn't know what to think of this anymore. It was as if the world had turned upside down and she hadn't seen it coming. Suddenly, with a snap of her fingers, it had just happened. Good became evil and evil became good. The bad guys became heroes who rescued the old heroes, risking their own lives, while the heroes were hunters, about to become murderers by killing the new heroes. The beings of pure Light were about to get blood on their hands, in a literal sense. Blood of the villains, the victims… Innocence…

This just didn't make sense anymore, no matter which way Aqua looked at it. Right and Wrong had silently swapped places, somewhere in between Existence and Non-existence.

There he was, laying on the floor out of exhaustion, because he had just saved her from a terribly painful death. All she could do was just stand there and stare at him, the monster who actually just proved that he was more human than she had expected him to be.

For the first time in his life, Vanitas took off his helmet (his mask…), so Aqua could see his spiky black hair, the color reminding her of thorns made out of pure Darkness… Didn't that say enough? Hadn't she seen the epitome of wickedness in his glowing, orange eyes? And yet, he didn't act like he was supposed to. Not at all.

"Why did you rescue me?" Aqua demanded, her Keyblade pointing at the place where Vanitas's heart was (or supposed to be…?).

Vanitas wasn't fazed by the weapon. In fact, he ignored it completely.

"Do you really need to ask that?"

Aqua didn't know what to say. What was there left to say, anyway?

"Have you ever wondered why I didn't kill you months ago when I had the chance? There's an easy explanation for that…" He paused there. Aqua waited impatiently for him to tell her why he was acting so out of character, but instead, he asked her a question. "Why do you want to kill me?"

The blue-haired woman narrowed her eyes. "That's not-"

"Yes it is," he said, calmly, interrupting her. "It has everything to do with this."

To say that the blue-haired Keyblade Master was suspicious was the understatement of the year. This was too bizarre for words; having a calm conversation with the one that had done too much harm to many worlds so far.

"Because you're the bad guy," she replied, eventually.

"Really now? What did I do? Kill someone? Did I steal stuff? Or poison people's minds? I can assure you that I've never done any of that. Doesn't the fact that you want to kill me make you the zero now?"

Was he trying to mess with her mind? If so, he was succeeding… and how. She couldn't deny that he had a point, but…

"I'm not a bad person," she whispered, looking away from his razor sharp eyes.

She really wasn't. He was just trying to confuse her so he could kill her anyway. Vanitas had no right to tell her she was bad, simply because it was all a lie.

"Says the one who's pointing a weapon at the one who just rescued her…" he commented, a smirk tugging at his lips.

"Shut up!" Aqua suddenly cried, jumping forward in a fierce attack, which Vanitas barely blocked.

"I see you made up your mind? You're more corrupted than I thought," was all he said, before disappearing into thin air.

He never saw how Aqua dematerialized her Keyblade, or how a teardrop rolled down her cheek.

A/N: The ending is a little weird, I know, but it had something to do with the word limit. Sorry. XD
