Chapter 1 - Falling Apart
She promised herself that she wouldn't care anymore, no more tears, no more hurt, no more anger.
Yet still, she could feel her eyes burn, her throat clog up and her vision turn blurry as she sat in the kitchen, head in her hands begging for the impossible.
Maybe this was all her fault. Maybe she didn't try hard enough to keep him.
She shouldn't care, but she still loved him too much to let all that they worked so hard to attain slip through her closed fingers.
But why? Why is it that the more she struggled, the farther the distance between him and her became?

"What are we having today, Hinata?" he asked softly, hugging her from behind as she started to feel her eyes mist up.
Hinata swallowed the lump in her throat and tried to reply as cherrily as she could, "I...Italian pasta and bread, let me go bring it up."
She removed his hands off of her shoulders and moved away so he couldn't see her face; otherwise, he would see the tears threatening to fall from her eyes.
Somehow he had become a stranger to her. His eyes never reached her face anymore as he talked to her and his hug didn't have the warmth of his love like it used to.
Through all of this, he was still the same handsome man that caused so many woman to pine after.
With hair as dark as night and eyes that are deeper than the night sky. So inhumanly handsome that nothing she did could keep the woman away.
Because of all of this...
Their relationship was falling apart at the seams.

"How long are you going to keep doing this...th..this madness! I'm your wife! Your place is with me! Stop leaving!" Hinata screamed with all of her might feeling tears race down her cheeks as he stopped in his tracks, hands grazing the brass knob of their front door.
Hinata gripped onto his left arm and yanked him around to her, fury building and breaking all that she had known. All the anger, the hate, the jealousy, all of it coming out at once in streams of tears trailing down her cheeks and bitter words that are meant to break the walls that were built between them. She knew bitter words would leave her mouth and yet she couldn't control herself any further.
She had let all these silent thoughts break her measure of control. Hinata had thought that if she let him do what he wanted, he would eventually come back to her.
She was wrong.
She did everything in her ability to keep him bounded to her, to keep his love. He said that they were rarely seeing each other, so she stopped working. He complained that he missed his mothers cooking so she immediately called his mother and learned it for him.
And all for what? A man whose heart didn't even belong to her anymore. He was rarely at home while she was waiting for him.
Hinata could hear people whispering behind her back, all their words breaking the trust they built into their relationship.
"I'm just meeting with a few of my work colleagues," he reassured as she breathed in shakily, lips shaking from trying to restrain herself.
The rest was lost to her.
Who knew that one colleague with long pink hair and bright red lipstick would cause this to happen? The colleague that her met everyday after work hours. That sort of colleague. The sort of colleague he would leave her for night after night.
Hinata remained silent, hands turning to fists as she reverted back to the silence that was starting to become her companion. She guessed that all the trust in their relationship had turned to this.
Deceit.
The more she argued and screamed, the only person hurting would be her.
Am I not good enough for you to tell me the truth?
Hinata took a step back and lowered her gaze away from him.
He gave her a reassuring smile before leaning forward and taking her face in his hands and wiping at her fallen tears. A gesture that was supposed to be endearing and warm seemed cold and forced to her.
"I'll try to come back earlier," he murmured softly before pressing his warm lips against her cold wet cheek. In learned movements, she tugged his scarf closer to his neck and let him open the door and leave their house.
The cold snow on the floor crunched from his footsteps and she could see him breathe out white wisps of air.
Even if there was a blizzard out there you would go wouldn't you?
Is that woman really worth it, Sasuke?
Is that woman really worth him leaving her like this? Lying to her like this?
I give up. I-I can't do this anymore. I can't continue living like this.
Let's end this.
