Philosophy of pure-blooded girls and Emily at Hogshead
Draco Malfoy, aged thirteen, was sitting in a far back corner of the Hogshead in Hogsmeade. He was there all alone with a big bucket of Butterbeer in front of him. There he sat doing nothing but staring into nothingness and thinking, thinking about her.
He had seen her for the first time when he entered the Great Hall at Hogwarts this morning. There she sat, shining amid all her fellow students, her equals, the fifth-year Ravenclaws. Emily was here name. He sat here now wondering why he had never noticed her before. She was so beautiful that it was hard to miss her and her smile was so shiny it made you smile too.
However, Draco knew they would never be together for many reasons. Firstly, Slytherin and Ravenclaw were not likely to get mixed with each other. Secondly, she was three years older than he was. Thirdly, he was a pureblood and she was not.
This might not be a big problem for him, but he knew his father and mother would loath her for this even before they had met her. Now he started to think of it, it was actually stupid that he was unable to like someone who wasn't pureblood just because of nothing. Just because it was said that purebloods were better. Why would Emily be bad or wrong, she was perfect even though her parents were muggles. Some of them might indeed be awful, like that Hermione Granger, but Emily was different. With Emily, you didn't notice she wasn't pureblood; she was just brilliant and as pretty as a veela.
Anyway, fourthly his parents would never approve her. Fifthly, her parents were muggles who knew nothing about magic. Finally, his family was as dark as they could be, so she would hate him for that.
Draco thought of this again. That meant that he would then as well be judged due to his family. Just like, she would be judged by her muggleparentage. Someway he knew this was unfair, but he also knew he couldn't change it either. Draco sighed, drunk the last drops of Butterbeer, heaved his shoulders and went away. He decided he should just forget about all his philosophising of a few minutes ago and about Emily, because now he thought about it, she actually looked quite ugly. His father was right, purebloods were better and Emily was just a stupid mudblood. Draco grinned and decided to look for Crabbe and Goyle so they could annoy some more Hufflepuffs.
