I'm not one for the What If AU's in this fandom because some of them separate the brothers and I don't want the brothers separated ;;v;; But I saw this AU on Tumblr where Wirt and Greg (even Beatrice) turn into Beasts and it started to grow on me, more so every time I see it. There is angst in it but I ignore it for the fluffy parts xD;

Greg scampered through the forest, humming a melody that rang high above the tree tops. No other sounds admitted from the night. It didn't bother the child though, that meant nothing would bother his play time.
Except for one noise.
A fanged smile appeared on Greg's face. Time to have some fun.
The child followed the noise into a clearing. In the clearing sat his big brother, Wirt, who was playing a sad melody on his clarinet next to a Edelwood Tree. The sight of the once hopeful soul made his chest hurt. He made sure to remind himself to collect some pretty flowers for the tree.
Greg quietly made his way around the tree and behind his brother before jumping onto his back, scrambling up until he was perched on top of one of the antlers. Wirt grunted at the sudden weight on his head, placing his instrument beside him and tried looking up at his mischievous younger sibling.
"Greg please get off," Wirt grumbled. "I'm trying to finish my song."
"But you had all day to finish it!" Greg whined as he dramatically leaned back to his upper half was hanging off the antler. "You should play with me instead."
Wirt rolled his eyes. "I can't play everyday like you can, Greg."
"Hey I don't always play," Greg stated matter-a-factly.
"Oh you don't?"
"Nope! Sometimes I have to help you lure souls to be turned into a tree. It isn't always easy."
"Oh I bet."
Greg scowled and pulled himself back into a sitting position. Sometimes his brother could be too serious. But that's why he was here! He made sure Wirt didn't get too serious. Like now.
"Look I'll play with you after I- ow! Are you biting my antler?"
Greg had both his arms and legs wrapped around the base as he chomped on one of, not hard enough to hurt him of course. He giggled as Wirt tried to shake him off which only made him hang on tighter.
Wirt sighed. "Fine Greg…you win…"
Greg blinked and slowly unwound his limbs from the antler. Carefully leaning over he tried to catch his brothers eyes.
"Wirt-"
"Gotcha!"
Wirt snatched Greg from on top of his head and into his lap, tickling the unexpected victim. Laughter rang through the forest as the beats wrestled around like there was no care in the world. Well, when they were together it was true.
"Hey Wirt?" Greg asked once they grew tired of wrestling and now laid down beside each other, looking at the starry sky through the tree tops.
Wirt turned his head to look at him. "Hmm?"
"Do you think you can teach me to play clarinet?"
"After the last time? You'll just break it again."
"Aw c'mon, Wirt! I'll be more careful this time. I promise."
"No way."
"You're a party pooper."
"Good, I was aiming for that."
