Chapter 1:
*BEEP*BEEP*BEEP*
Tracy Beaker awoke hastily, to the sound of an alarm!
"What's that noise, Cam? "CAM, are you there?" Yells Tracy. THUD, THUD, THUD! As Tracy runs as fast as she can down the stairs. *BEEEEEP*BEEEEEP* the noise gets louder and louder and louder! "Oh for God's sake!" As Tracy bangs on the fire alarm, again and again and again. A knock on the door brings her own self back to Earth. "Can you open up please?" A mysterious man says. Tracy goes to open the door, first putting on the chain. She stands there in her bunny slippers, pyjamas and badly done hair. She obviously needs a wash and she needs the services of a good toothbrush.
"What?" she says with a huff. "I'm one of the firemen; Mr Dobbs next door thought he smelt smoke earlier on!" "Well you better come through then!" Tracy said, not even in the slightest bit relieved. "Is there a responsible adult here with you?" "You're talking to her!" She said proudly, not even bothered about looking into a decent mirror!" The fireman and his crew carried on, he whistled loudly, way OUT of tune. "Okey Dokey, me and the guys have found out that someone left the gas cooker on low, it must've expanded and spread onto this cloth" as he showed me a tattered black cloth. Then one of the firemen pointed out... "Few things were damaged but it's sad to say, an expensive necklace had been perished and looks un-fixable!" Tracy started to gasp, as if she had no air in her lungs. "Cam's... Diamond encrusted... £250,000...Necklace... Her, Gr-reat, gre-at grandmother's...Gone! Tracy's face turned as pale as the moon and as cold as bare icicles as far as in the North Pole! "So you aren't living here by yourself then?" asked the fireman, clearly at the wrong time. "Of COURSE not! What do you take me for?" Forgetting that she had said it herself, she was the responsible adult in the house. Raging with fury her body tensed as the front door slammed shut, Cam had arrived home, from a night's shift, not knowing what had just been announced...
