Pillar of Strength

This is the first time I've written something like this. And I do not own Inuyasha, all rights go to Rumiko Takahashi.

Inuyasha growled in irritation as he jumped out and over the well to land on the steps of the well house. Trekking, well mainly taking a giant leap one a second, he had passed the cemented grounds of the shrine, then leaping onto the window sill of the girl he was taking back to his time.

She said she'll be returning in three days and it's been five days! I won't be placing our journey on hold just because she needs to do this studying thing at her school.

A louder rumble sounded out from his chest as he slid the window aside so he'd be able to step inside. "Oi Kago-"

Suddenly, like a flash of lightning, he was sent to the floor with the school girl clutching his kariginu in her hands. His eyes were wide when he noticed he crying full blown tears, the watery salt fluid running down her cheeks that framed her heart-shaped countenance.

He detested to see woman cry, especially woman who he cared for and knew; particularly the young woman in his arms, who didn't want to let him go.

"Ka-Kagome," Inuyasha began and awkwardly placed a clawed hand on the back of her head. Gulping harshly, Inuyasha stared at her when she lifted her head to stare at him.

The first thing he noticed in her watery eyes were sadness and worry, and confusingly tried to see if he had caused any of the emotions to which she showed.

"I'm sorry…it's just that Buyo, h-he has Anisocoria, w-where one pupil is bigger than the o-other and-" that was all was said before Kagome started to cry into his chest.

Inuyasha had shifted her in his arms and settled her on his lap. Golden-amber orbs gazed at the weeping school girl in concern, he brushed a lock of her raven hair and tucked it behind her ear. "Kagome, I-I'm here, everything will be okay." He wasn't good with comforting anyone, the only comfort he had ever received was by his mother, but that was before he had met Kagome.

The junior high student nodded in confirmation as her hanyō companion tried to soothe her cries. "Buyo has been with me ever since I was ten years old, when I found out by mama…I-I wanted to return to the past, but when I neared t-the well house-" Kagome stopped mid-sentence when she choked back a sob. "If it weren't for Buyo, I wouldn't be traveling back and forth to the past."

The Inu-hanyō held her closer and slowly placed his chin on top of her head,"Kagome, Buyo will be all right, that cat has a lot of guts. You know, not a lot of cats can handle being messed with one such as myself, he can put up a fight. And if he can put up with me, he can face this…an-ahy-so-kawr-ee-ah thing." His ears lowered onto his head when he felt Kagome grip his kariginu tighter, although he didn't miss her words.

"Thank you for comforting me Inuyasha and giving me more strength than I can ask for."

Author's Note

Anisocoria is a condition where the pupil of one eye differs in size from the pupil of the other. It can occur in both cats and dogs, which is something that is occurring to my dog. It is scary and I had to take him to a veterinary opthalmology center. Well, I'll leave it off here, bye.
