A/N) This is a little poem of our favorite voice over in Avatar a revised version of my old one. It's longer and deeper in feeling. I hope you all miss him as much as I do.
In the beginning he was small and not thought of,
But near the end he gained respect and many fans,
Not just as the infamous Iroh, but as Mako,
He was the kid who tried and found he can.
Now that can is a could,
And our friend is gone,
No longer with us,
Our hearts must go on.
His smile could light a child's face,
And lift a hopeless one's spirits,
We tingle in anticipation,
To find his voice and hear it.
The pain will take time to subside,
And our hearts time to heal,
Though our minds will never forget,
The memory of how you made us feel.
Now that your time has gone and passed,
And time left our spirits dry,
We soften ourselves and our souls,
By taking the time to cry.
We pour out our fears and loneliness,
And take in the truth of it all,
We give away our sorrow,
And pause this endless bawl.
For we realize you are in a better place,
And you are recognized for your success,
We realize the time we had with you,
Was what came of being blessed.
He brought us tears of joy, sadness and even laughter.
His voice seemed to be able to comfort us when we were down.
We now find we truly and deeply miss him,
And most appreciate him when he's no longer around
----- In memory of Mako the voice of Uncle Iroh
You can review if you want to the point was to make you all realize what Iroh and Mako meant to us in the Avatar: The Last Airbender show. Mako was pronounced dead on July 21st 2006 of esophageal cancer. He was 72. He led the way for serious Asian-American actors. During Tales of Ba Sing Se a space was left for Iroh (Mako) where he sang this song for his dead son lost in the battles.
Leaves on a vine,
Falling so slow,
Like fragile tiny shells,
Drifting in the pond,
Little soldier boy,
Come marching home,
Brave soldier boy,
Come marching home.
We now sing this song for Mako as we mourn his loss. Will Iroh suffer the same fate in the show? Only time can heal our hearts and answer our questions. We may never know. It is reported that the last episode Mako voiced over was Avatar: The Last Airbender Season Finale 2 Part 2 Crossroads of Destiny. We all hope that they will find someone with the same voice for Iroh or out of some crazy miracle he actually recorded one last episode for Season 3 where he is given a proper leave from the show with some screen time and audible voice over. Though he may just never appear again we all hope for the best. As well as for the Gaang who now have only the small Water Tribe to help them stop the war.
It all seems impossible now doesn't it? Dr. Dani Suess
