One night there is a knock on the window. Kamui imminently wakes up. What if it's Fuuma? Kamui had nightmares where Fuuma appears in his room in the middle of the night. But he still goes to the window, he can't stop himself. But it isn't his twin star, it's Subaru.
Kamui throws himself at Subaru, hugs him and almost cries of happiness. He missed him so much. Subaru smiles and runs his fingers through Kamui's hair. Kamui notices that Subaru has two eyes again, but he doesn't ask. Subaru also smells faintly of sakura. That's another thing Kamui chooses to ignore for the moment.
Are you back? Kamui asks.
I am. Subaru says. He continues to smile and let his hands on Kamui go lower and pushes him back on the bed.
Kamui flinches. Somehow, this is playing out as one of his nightmares. But with Subaru in the lead role instead of Fuuma. Kamui tried to get away, suddenly the gentle touches scares him. Subaru is not pleased. He ignores the boy's discomfort and drags him even closer.
What's wrong? Subaru purrs. I thought you liked me.
The entire situation is so wrong, for a moment Kamui believes that Subaru is possessed by Seishirou's ghost. He considers to call for help, but he doesn't want the seals to attack Subaru. Maybe he is just being paranoid.
Subaru-san.. please.. Kamui begs.
Subaru abruptly lets go. He looks at Kamui with irritation. Kamui becomes painfully aware of how little cloths he is wearing: only boxers and a small t-skirt.
Then don't promise me things you have no intention to hold. Subaru hisses. Or are you just playing?
Kamui can't hold back his tears. This isn't the reunion he wished for.
You're always crying.. Subaru says, more gently this time. He touches the scars on Kamui's hands as if it is the first time he notices them. But I guess you have good reasons..
Wh-what do you want?
I only wanted to see you again. But since you don't seem very interested I should leave..
Subaru gets up from the bed.
Kamui says, without thinking. When Subaru stops, and sits down next to him again he regrets it. But it's Subaru. His friend..
I'm sorry. Subaru says. I feel strange
It's okay. Kamui says, even though it's not. Just don't leave again.
I promise. Subaru says.
Then he pushes Kamui back in the bed and places himself on the top of him, making it impossible for Kamui to get up again. Kamui cries out in pain when Subaru knocks his head into the bedpost in the process.
Get off me! Kamui yells. Right now he doesn't care if Sorata will fry Subaru, or if Arashi slices him into pieces.
This is starting to get old. Subaru says. For a moment ago he sounded like he used to, pleasant and clam, if slightly cold. But now there is a hint of something else in his voice. Sadism perhaps. Is screaming and crying all you can do?
Let me go! Kamui sobs and wriggles under Subaru's weight.
Aren't you supposed to have the power of God? How come we never seen you do more than cry for help? Subaru smiles again, but this time it looks more like a smile Fuuma or Seishirou would wear. His hand slides under Kamui's shirt.
You are not Subaru! Kamui screams in panic. Why doesn't anyone wake up?
Subaru, if it really is him, abruptly let go.
No.. I don't feel like myself anymore.. He touches his left eye and backs away from Kamui. I shouldn't be here..
Kamui doesn't know what to say or do. And his head still hurts..
I'm sorry.. Subaru says as he gets closer again.
The last thing Kamui remembers is Subaru kissing him.
When Kamui wakes up the window is closed again. He lays tangled in his sheets, as if he had a bad dream. Maybe he had. There is nothing that can prove something really happened. Not even the faint smell of sakura remains.
It was just a nightmare, Kamui decides. Subaru is still gone, and when he return everything will be fine. Kamui sits up, he won't sleep anymore tonight. He realizes his head hurts. He must have bumped into the bed while he was dreaming. Yes, that must be it
