Draco's Loss

Memories… sweet, undiluted memories of his past love. The love which had changed his life. He remembered her scent and the softness of her skin molded into his. He remembered how calming her embrace had been. How she had made him feel complete at a time when his world had been falling apart.

Yes, he had the memories, but that was all he had now. It was because of the war and the others. They had poisoned his love's mind against him. Made her see him as something he'd never meant to be. They couldn't see he'd had no choice, been forced into Voldemort's service.

That service had cost him the love and adoration of Ginevra Weasley. He still remembered stolen moments with her. She was Gryffindor and he Slytherin. House enemies, yet they had fallen in love.

The war had torn them apart. The scars of it still lingered on his soul. The terror of death had affected him greatly, but the loss of Ginny's love had pained him more.

Her smile still haunted his dreams. They had turned into nightmares which haunted him. He found himself reaching out for her touch. The pain had been so unbearable that he'd had to fill the void with hatred for those who had taken his love away. Harry Potter was his enemy, for he took the beautiful Ginevra for his own, Draco's hatred for him was deadly.

He was a shell of a man now without his love. The hole in his heart was mended with a consuming anger and hatred. He'd become exactly what they had accused him of being. Without the woman he loved, he had no reason to act human. He inflicted his pain on others and plotted the return of his love.

Capturing her and forcing her to see his truth were all he thought of except when the beautiful memories came back to haunt him. Then he would escape into a world that no longer existed. A world in which his scars were healed. Healed by her loving caress and soft, sweet voice. These memories were what drove his desperate plans. He was in a dangerous state of mind. For he was no longer the Draco that Ginny had once loved.
