England sighed contentedly, watching the gorgeous pink and orange hues of the sky slowly fade away to reveal a calming and reassuring shade of a mellow blue underneath. The evening sun set over the city skyline almost reluctantly. He felt so at ease, which was quite rare considering his full-time (not to mention immensely stressful) job at being a country. Sure, his days of being a once great empire were over, but the workload most certainly hadn't lessened in size because of that.
The stress and dread of having to go back to his residence to complete his unfinished task quickly emerged, wrenching his gut unpleasantly as he remembered the repulsive stack of incomplete papers sitting impatiently on his desk. However, instead of allowing himself to grow anxious over it, the former pirate took in multiple deep breaths, trying to soothe himself and get back that once relaxed and calm feeling he had whilst watching the beautiful sunset from the large grassy hill just outside the skirts of London.
England rarely let himself become so at peace at times like this when his economy wasn't at the best it could possibly be, or there was still some unsettled tensions between him and another country. But he didn't care for once. He really just wanted to forget his horrid duties for a couple of minutes. A few seconds would even be great.
The loads of responsibility dumped over his already weary shoulders ate away at him in the worst possible ways. If his nation were to lose a war, his pride and power as a strong country would pummel. And he was quite the prideful country.
So, in the relaxing calm of the moment, England sat peacefully for a few minutes in a tranquil quiet, watching over the bustling city of London, the city lights standing out from the dark landscape and complimenting the gradually setting sun that left the feeling that if not for a few moments, everything would be alright and he, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, would be okay.
