Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon. M'kay? M'kay.

Memento

--

You came bounding up the path and I could tell from the small

(almost secretive?)

smile on your sun-kissed face that you had defeated the little picnickers along the way. I hopped off from my place on the familiar white fence, fingers already grabbing for a pokeball.

As you looked at me, I wondered...would you smile for me when I'm done with you?

(or when you're done with me?)

"Prepare to be dazzled by my dexterity!" I warned you with a grin.

As you grasped for your pokeball, I knew I would find out.

"You tried your best Voltorb…" I muttered as I beckoned its return.

Looking back, I think that fight was over before it began. It only became more apparent as the battle continued. Your skill was simply amazing. When you called back your last pokemon, I already knew. Your smile confirmed it.

(you were done with me.)

And yet, I was so inexplicably drawn to you. Your tenacity in battle to your smile…you were worth looking into. I had eagerly asked to swap numbers and you complied with a nearly patient smile before you told me:

"I think that'd be pretty cool. But I also think it might help to know my name is Crys."

One could only imagine my ever-growing embarrassment at that moment. Heat slowly rushed to my cheeks as I sheepishly tugged on the bill of my hat.

"That would be nice to know, huh?" I laughed. "Mine's Irwin." You grinned at point while handing over your PokeGear.

"Well Irwin, let's swap numbers then." I give you mine as I put my number into your Gear.

"Wow, gee thanks! Now I can call weither things are up or not, or just to, y'know, chat." I inwardly kick myself for how astonishingly idiotic

(as if you're one overly eager Labrador puppy)

I sounded. Che. I never ceased to amaze myself. But to my relief, you laugh good naturedly before making your way. You departed then, telling me:

"I look forward it."

That meeting was only the first of many to come.

You shared with me all your triumphs,

(I would listen as you happily retold the battle)

Your defeats, and

(you vented all your frustrations.)

Your concerns.

(that thick-headed rival of yours, Silver.)

As I followed you as your self-proclaimed sidekick, wanting to see all of what molded you into what you are, I started to wonder…do you captivate everyone like this? Leave such a strong impression?

(maybe I could leave such an impression on you?)

A/N: Not quite dead, folks. :)

I've always liked the pairing of Crystal/Irwin and it saddens me to see only one other fic of it on the site (Love Not Wasted. I happily reccomend it.). I don't even think it has an official name. :/ Anyways, I hoped y'all enjoyed my first fic in long time.

R&R!
