"I wonder, when is the last time I stayed up this late?" "I really should close my eyes soon." "This story is disappointing, I should stop reading it." Thoughts like these flood my head as I look at my computer screen, I've been reading terrible fanfiction for probably a few hours and I have no intention of actually stopping. After all, it's finally break time so I don't need to wake up early or anything. It's not as if this will affect me badly.

Despite my self-assurance measures, I feel my eyelids drooping in defiance of my proclamation. I feel myself, pulling myself back out of my computer screen to actually pay attention to my bodies signals.

I would seem to be tired.

With a frustrated sigh, I shut my laptop and close my eyes in search of comfort. Something feels wrong, instantly my whole body began screaming out that something was not right. As if the ancient instincts of cave-me had awoken and told me that I had been swallowed whole.

My eyes shot open again to reveal a miasma of greys. I turned and contorted my body to look all around, but everywhere I turn the environment has been replaced with this swirling shifting collection of light and dark… that sounds too dramatic but I've got to describe it somehow.

I could feel a bit of a cold sweat coming on as I opened my big mouth in preparation of sticking my foot in it.

"If I've already clearly lost my mind it's ok to talk to myself, right?" I said, struggling to keep my voice level. I felt like screaming but that would no doubt just freak myself out. Not to mention I had no idea what was going to happen to the sound...

I was overreacting, coming up with improbable side effects of things I could do here. Would sound be amplified or nullified? Was just looking around going to damage me somehow? I was in the process of debating whether or not breathing was dangerous in this new situation when a distinctly female voice spoke up.

"Welcome to Jumpchain, human." human? Jumpchain? What is-

I blinked, Jumpchain? How could I tell it was capitalized just from how she said it? and why didn't she capitalize human?... Now that I think about it, "human" usually isn't capitalized is it?

It took me a moment to notice that I was no longer floating in the void, but standing on my feet in a new pure-white void. I shifted to stand up straight and unconsciously sucked my gut in a bit, a habit I had kept from when I had been much less thin. Regardless, the voice had come from… behind me. I turned around to see a girl who was average. Literally. Everything about her was average, to the point I'm pretty sure I could stand her next to any other human and a computer wouldn't be able to tell them apart, that kind of average. Like the main character of The Lego Movie. Though she might just have that effect on people.

I stood there for a solid minute before realized I was being rude, just staring at her, and spoke up. "Sorry, thank you for having me."

Ah, perfect. I could feel my soul dying as I spoke. Good to know I'm still myself at least.

"... You don't talk too often do you?" She said with a smile. At least she didn't look unhappy or disappointing. She probably got weird looks all the time if this was normal.

"No, I don't. Thanks for understanding."

"It's fine. I've dealt with far worse, human." She said dismissively. Human huh? She did say that before. Which means…

"Am I dead?" I asked, maybe she could smell fear. Her nose wrinkled a bit at the question

"No, that would be silly." She said. With a straight face too. Of course, HOW could I be so SILLY. Ugh, regardless, I'm still alive if she's telling the truth. So I need to know my situation.

"Well that eliminates that option… I thought I had died and this is purgatory…" she got a bit of a giggle out of that, but she tried to hide it. "... I was wrong right? Please just tell me what's happening."

She nodded and placed her fist on her chest "Took you long enough, human! You can call me Jump-Chan, and for some reason or another that you're not built to understand, you're being sent to another world for 10 years. I'm in charge of sending you there, and what happens after that. Any questions?"

I nod, turning away to rub my forehead for a moment. "Just a moment… ok, do I get any help, or am I just thrust in there?"

The now-named Jump-Chan nodded and made her arm do some stuff that I'm reasonably sure human arms aren't allowed to do in my general direction. In response, a menu-like window opened in the air ahead of me. "This'll tell you all you need to know, alright? Just hit [FIN] once you're done selecting things and you'll be sent off into the Jump!"

I nod, and she continues. "Alright, goodbye! And don't say I never gave you anything!"

The world faded to black. Probably to let me focus on the screen.

In Another World With My Smartphone, eh. Wait, why can I think in bold now?

-(skipping the process of choice, instead look at the results! (With comments, because they naturally built up.))-

Age: 10 + d8: 13 (a bit younger than I would've preferred, but there isn't a free reroll option.)

Gender: Male

Race: Human. (I'm cool with what I've got for now, thanks)

Location: Royal Capital of Belfast. (Looks like a nice enough place, no need to argue with the dice)

Origin: Smartphone Owner. (This means I get a phone, right? I've seen one or two anime so I know it can probably be played to my advantage. Also, the other two seem to come with responsibilities…)

Perks

I get 1000 cp to spend on special…

Actually, what's this at the bottom of the document? Drawbacks? I'll look at those fir- oh, they add points! I'll take the ones I can handle then.

Drawbacks first!

I can take 800 cp worth.

Hello, I'm God and you just Died- You're the protagonist now, having been hit by the bolt of lightning instead of him. Have fun. Anything that would have centered around him will instead focus on you. (Being mc sounds alright, I don't remember much about this story but I don't think I'll die because of it. Besides, I'm reasonably sure I have to take it with my background)

So I've Noticed You Haven't Married My Underage Daughter Yet- For some reason, everyone wants me to marry their underage daughters. (It'll happen whether I take the perk or not because of the whole "I'm mc now" thing, so I might as well get points out of it. At least this one will keep me uncomfortable, I might get sick if I get used to it.) +100cp

the rest of these are way more scary, so I'll avoid them. I'm not a fan of chance.

Perks! For real this time!

All Magic Affinity (Capstone Booster)- Like what it implies, you have an Affinity with all types of magic, including all types of Null magic. This means you have the unique ability to use all types of magic in the world. You carry this ability to quickly learn and master all forms of magic to future worlds and systems.(I like very much yes please.) 1100cp - 400cp = 700cp

Superhuman- Physically and mentally beyond what a human is capable of. Perfect memory and recall included. Comes with matrix vision. (Is it really OK for me to take this on a discount!?) 700cp - 200cp = 500cp

Impossibly Lucky- (Capstone Boosted) I'm just very lucky, all the time. Things are coming up roses, as they say. In addition, God's have an innate positive opinion of me and won't be offended if I talk normally to them. I am also more easily noticed by the Divine, but I can turn that bit off.(This should prove VERY useful.) 500cp - 300cp = 200cp

Items!

Unlimited Ice Cream- just like it says, comes with the knowledge of ice-cream recipes. (I guess I won't starve! Hahaha… I'm going to die for sure.) 200cp - 50cp = 150cp

Magic Coat- Doubles resistance to magic types I have an Affinity for, and doubles damage received from magic I don't have an Affinity for. (Comes free with my other perk, also WOW.)

The Clothes On Your Back- The clothes on my back.(OK? It's free so that's nice.)

A Smartphone- A Smartphone that can access the internet from back home, always with perfect reception, that is charged using magic. It's view-only though, but it's also compatible with magic and can search local information. (is it REALLY ok for this to be free?)

Royal Medal- A medal that says I'm special. Makes me a VIP by default when I flash it and exempts me from taxes. It's magic, so it works anywhere. (Me like very much me take me have me use yes.) 150cp - 100cp = 50cp

Canon Companion- (I'm not sure who yet, but if I convince a single canon character to come with me they become a "companion"! Like, Dr Who style I think?) 50cp - 50cp = 0cp!

-(back to actual story.)-

I eye the list, I'm pretty sure I'll do fine with just this… just this huh? I'm getting elevated to superhuman status right now, and all I can think about is the fact that I could have been more powerful! I suppose it's human nature, or something? I decide to blame it on baser instincts as I hit [FIN] and the world appears around me.

I mean, that's what it looks like on my end at least, but I'm sure I just appeared in their world instead of it being the other way around.

I'm so short now? What? I had forgotten that my age was reset to 13!
