Star Fox belongs to Nintendo respectfully. The characters are fictional; names related to any persons, living or dead, locations, and historic events, are purely coincidental. My oc belongs to me. Enjoy this story, which may contain some romance. Who doesn't love a bit of romance? Rule 63 is in effect here, so: Female Wolf O'D, Female Fox McCloud. The rest of the characters stay the same. :P

Chapter 1

Captain Ronin Casey sighed as he sank further into his command chair on the bridge of the Acolyte, an Attack-Carrier class, and the oldest ship of the CDF Fleet. Casey was bored out of his mind. It's been five days since he received orders from General Pepper to track down a supposed band of pirates at the edge of the Lylat System. After a few false alarms, there were still no signs of the 'pirates'. He thought that this was pointless and a waste of his time. The 45-year-old cheetah had served the CDF for nearly 20 years, and was ready for retirement. But instead, here he was, on the edge of the system, chasing nonexistent pirates.

"Captain!" his lieutenant, a tiger, shouted. "We've got a contact bearing 2-1-0 degrees off our starboard!"

"And it's speed?" Ronin asked, straightening in his chair.

"None, sir. It's...it's drifting."

"Drifting?"

"Yes sir. You think it's abandoned?"

"Not a chance, lieutenant. No one would just up and leave a ship adrift in space. Call for Star Wolf to investigate." The bridge fell silent when those words were uttered. "Well? What are you waiting for? Call them."

"Sir," a wolf piped up nervously. "What about Star Fox? Can't they-"

"Star Fox is currently too busy with Venom to deal with pirates, corporal!" Ronin snapped angrily. "Call in Star Wolf immediately!"

Come on! Come on! It's not what I said. Believe, believe what I meant. "Oh come on! You stupid, piece of crap ship!" 'Clang!' "Ow! Freaking...Ugh!" Wolf O'Donnell threw the monkey wrench at the hull of her Wolfen, the tool striking the custom metal alloy with a loud, but dull, 'thud', before falling to the ground. "Stupid Star Fox always getting in the way of my missions." She sighed as she stood up and turned off the song on her wrist com. "What's the point? It's been six months since our last mission, and we barely have enough money for anything. Stupid Fox and her band of goody-two-shoe band of miscreants. Hmph!"

Wolf grabbed the rag hanging off the nose of the Wolfen and wiped off her greasy paws, when her wrist com went off. "This had better be good," she muttered, throwing the rag to the side and activating the communications device. A holographic image of a cheetah clad in a blue uniform appeared, paws folded behind his back. "Well, well, well," Wolf said, a small smirk plastered on her scarred face. "If it isn't Captain Casey of the Alkaline. What can Wolf O'Donnell, ex-rogue mercenary, do for you today?"

"Wolf," Casey bowed his head. "I have a job for you. And the ship's name is Acolyte."

Wolf shrugged indifferently. "Eh. Tomato, tomahto. What's your price? Star Wolf doesn't accept freebies. Everyone knows that."

"I will pay you and your team, 1.5 million credits to investigate a supposed pirate 'ghost ship' that we found on the edge of the Lylat System."

"1.5 million?" Wolf inquired, raising an eyebrow. "I don't think so."

"5 million, then."

"Nope."

"Uh, 10 million?"

"Boring," Wolf yawned.

"Alright, alright! 50 million then, for goodness sake!" Casey shouted desperately.

Wolf stopped and looked at the hologram with a mischievous glint in her good eye. "And it's to investigate a 'ghost ship' you guys found, correct?"

"Yes. Do we have a deal? 50 million credits to you and your team?"

Wolf nodded. "Yep. We'll be there in no time. Until then, Captain Spotty."

The cheetah snorted and rolled his eyes before Wolf shut off the call. The gray and white lupine sighed and leaned against her Wolfen, pondering about the mission she just agreed to undertake. 'This had better be worth the money, or I'm going to be super pissed.' She then grabbed her vest and wrist com and walked out of the hangar bay to relay the news to her crew. Hopefully, they would do this job right for once. Otherwise, she's just gonna have to go solo. 'Which is the whole point of being a lone wolf', her mind echoed. A lone wolf...would that be the rest of her life? Just her, roaming the Lylat System aimlessly, living on nothing but scraps? No. Not for long, at least. But Wolf didn't know that, and wouldn't until later...

Okay, so this is the final version of this story, and I am going to stick with it, for good. Sorry for the rushed chapter, folks, but I really wanted to get this out there and off of my lap. That way, I can focus on my other stories. Including my SCP Foundation Mythos story that I have not touched since October. Anyways, hope y'all will like this story. It has gone through three revisions, this being the third and final one, over the course of almost two years(from Jan-Feb 2017).

The reconciliation of Wolf O'Donnell will be explained in the next chapter, just in case y'all were confused.

Phantom out!
