They walked together, hand in hand, through the trees dappled with sunlight.

"Are you going to tell me where we're going?" Hermione asked.

"I have a place I want to show you." Draco replied enigmatically, but his pace quickened and he dragged Hermione along behind him, her legs too short to keep up with his long strides.

"This is my old reading spot." He said with a flourish, and Hermione's smile widened at the seat hung from two branches. "I used to come out here all the time when I was a kid. I still do, when I visit." Hermione turned away from him, winding her hands around the rope and tugging it, testing it's durability.

"It's wonderful." She said, turning and sitting down, rocking back and forth on her feet.

"I hoped you'd like it." Draco said. "I thought that, when we live here, you could use it."

"When we live here?" Hermione asked, and then gasped when Draco knelt on the floor.

"Hermione, you already know what I'm going to ask. But I'm going to tell you a massive romantic paragraph anyway." He took a deep breath. "After the war, I thought I'd never forgive myself for what happened to you. So I was incredibly surprised that you forgave me so easily. I felt like that alone was enough, but then you told me you reciprocated my feelings. And you have made me not only the happiest I could ever be, but you saved me. So, Hermione Jean Granger, will you marry me?"

"Of course I will." She replied, pulling him up off of the ground and into a kiss. "You needn't have knelt, you know. It's dirty and cold."

"I'm nothing if not a traditionalist." He smirked, and grabbed her hand, slipping the ring onto her finger before lacing his fingers in hers.
