Ruthie had just gotten back from Scotland were she was having the time of her life she had even managed to almost forget about Martin for a little while but she knew when she went back to Glen Oak everything would remind her of him. The way it smelled her school the people the trees just everything and she wondered if she was ready for it. Her whole family thought that she was over Martin that she had gotten over him a month or two ago but the truth was she still loved him now just as much as she ever had and she had tried to let go of those feelings but they held onto her and she couldn't shake them. Not that she wanted to she had loved Martin Brewer ever since he followed her and Peter home that day and she couldn't even imagine how to begin to let that go. Whenever she thought about him her heart skipped a beat and she could barely breathe but at the same time her heart felt like someone was strangling it whenever she thought about him and she could barely think. When she remembered the way he talked or the way he laughed or even just the way he looked at the world through those big amazing eyes she felt weak in the knees. She secretly wished that he would just come back to Glen Oak if he did she promised herself that she would forgive him in fact she already had. She couldn't hold a grudge against him she knew that. But she had to make her family and everyone at school believe she had gotten over Martin but how could she pretend she didn't feel the way she did how could she just go on living without him in her life it made no sense after all he wasn't just her love he was her best friend. Who could she talk to when Mary screwed up or she felt lonely or she made a bad grade he had always been there for her and she had depended on that so much that she had no idea what to do now that he was gone. Who would she talk to about her problems and who would be there to warn her not to do something that she would most likely do anyway. Who would she laugh with, cry with, and have fun with? She wondered. She had always dreamed of the day when he would fall in love with her and then he would propose to her and of coarse she would say yes.
They would then get married and move into a nice cute little house close to both of their parents but not too close. He would be a baseball player and she would be a writer or something cool like that. Then one day they would have kids maybe a daughter or two and a son who would be just like his daddy. She loved the thought of the future she had made up for them it was so perfect and so uncomplicated that she almost laughed thinking about it. But unfortunately for her this was the real world and she couldn't make him love her or make him stay in Glen Oak for her. So many times she wished that she could change the day it happened the day he became a dad she would tell him not to go up to Simon's college that she loved him and she couldn't live without him. But she couldn't change it and she would have to accept it. The thing that bothered her was that it didn't matter she loved him baby and all but she couldn't make him stay she wasn't good enough. She was cut off in mid thought the plane had just landed. She unbuckled her seatbelt and got off the plane. She got her luggage and went out to see who was picking her up and the face she saw shocked her it was Martin. He ran over to her and said," I've come back for good Ruthie it turns out he wasn't mine the baby wasn't mine. "Really" she said hardly believing it "Yeah and there is one more thing" "What's that" "I love you Ruthie Camden." Then she said" I love you too Martin Brewer" and they kissed.
