Just a sweet little oneshot between my OC Blondie and Snitch.
~The Little Things~
It's those little things that stick with you, Blondie thought as she ran her hand through Snitch's hair, for once free of his cap. It's just those little things that stick with you and bugger you up. She rolled her eyes and Snitch shifted slightly, one of his hands coming up to rest on Blondie's free one.
"Snitch, what's wrong huh?" She asked, unable to contain herself anymore. Snitch cracked open one eye and sat up, blinking tiredly.
"Nothin', why?" Blondie rolled her eyes at the typical male response.
"I was jus' wondering, 'cause you're bein' awful quiet today." She said, still threading her fingers through his smooth hair. "An' it has nothin' ta do with the strike, 'cause I know you guys are havin' a break." She emphasised the word break and he flushed faintly, mumbling something under his breath. "What was that? I missed it."
"I'se just…I dunno, feeling funny." He said, sitting up fully. "It was jus' somethin' Swifty said, s'no worries." Blondie shook her head and pulled her hand away from his hair.
"What'd the boy say?" She asked, fiddling with the buttons on the top of his shirt. "An' you know if yer don't tell meh, I'll head straight ta 'Hattan ta find out." He swallowed, more from her touch than the threat she thought, and his shoulders sagged.
"We was jus' talkin' with Charlie about youse, 'cause she come here with Race, and she said you were real pretty like, and Swifty just runs his mouth." He said, looking down. Blondie lifted his chin with her fingers and softly kissed his cheek.
"What'd the boy say Snitch?" She asked. He shrugged and closed his hand over hers, pulling it away from his shirt buttons.
"He just says somethin' bout what a pretty girl like you was doin' with a lousy bum like me." Snitch said quietly. "An' it annoyed me ya know, 'cause I reckon ya could do better. I know I ain't as good lookin' as Jack or somethin'-" Blondie cut him off with a kiss to the mouth before pulling away.
"Dunno why you listen ta Swifty sometimes boy." She murmured, resting her forehead against his. "Because I reckon yer pretty darn good lookin' yerself. Jack Kelly is too damn tall and youse just the right look. 'Sides, you look after me and meh boys." She kissed his cheek. "You ain't proud like Cowboy, or arrogant like Conlon. An' yer not a girl like Rabbit." He snorted at that one and she nestled her head into the crook of his neck as he draped his arm over her shoulders.
"Thanks Blondie." He murmured, kissing her hair. She giggled as he leaned back carefully against the tree trunk and closed her eyes. "I mean it. I ain't much fer words, but thanks." Blondie rolled her eyes and kissed his jaw gently.
"It ain't nothin'." She said. "It's always them little things that niggle at ya, so I just got yer niggling out of the way so we can spend the rest of the day together." She felt him grin into her hair and he squeezed her shoulder.
"Any ideas?"
There. Since Snitch doesn't really have a word or something in the movie, I figure him to be kind of quiet and awkward with girls, as opposed to Spot Conlon or Jack. And Blondie is my OC, the leader of Mid Town newsies
