A/N: Hello and welcome to Hunters light. Yes im back finally, but I don't know if I'll be continuing my other story. In the meantime I'll be working on this one since this has been on my mind for a little bit. Anywho I hope you enjoy Chapter 1!
Chapter 1: Overture
It was dark and cold...it was so cold. He heard nothing but the endless abyss of the ocean, its freezing clutches squeezing the very life out of him as he could not even move a single muscle.
His body screamed for movement, air, and freedom as he clung on to the very little life that he had left. All of that was a mere dream as he sunk deeper and deeper into the cold abyss. A mere dream...no this was a nightmare. He needed to wake up from this before it was too late.
Wake up.
WAKE UP!
With a sudden start his eyes snapped open as his body jumped as snore of his was suddenly cut short. Groaning and shutting his eyes for a moment, his mind slowly processed his surroundings, mentally telling himself what he felt was just a nightmare. If he could remember it that is since he woke up with a start.
Shaking his head and giving out a small cough and snort, he slowly sat up correctly on the red seat that he occupied.
"That was nice..." he muttered to himself, stretching his arms upwards and over his head while releasing a yawn. There were a couple of pops and cracks felt throughout during this stretch, causing him to groan.
Lowering his arms, he shook his wrists to remove the slight pain from that stretch, turning to the direction of the window once he finished. He was met with trees, bushes, and hills passing by at a gentle pace with the sun just already rising over the horizon. Humming to himself he turned back around and faced the empty seat in front of him, leaning back in his seat.
"Guess I slept through the night." He muttered to himself, staring blankly ahead of him.
Why do his dreams always involve in that one scenario, that one feeling of just sinking into nothingness? It was the third time that his happened, and it boggled his mind yet again as the main question always popped up beneath those layers.
Who was he?
He only knew that his name was Hunter and that he specialized in light magic. Though he couldn't use it unless he had a specific set of gear on, and it was something thats been attached to him since he was a small child. At first glance others would immediately think that it was cool and unique, that they would want to have such a cool look so that they could feel unstoppable and noticed by others. People thought it was a blessing.
It was curse in reality.
Hunter shook his head and grunted, pushing all of those thoughts aside as he crossed his arms and closed his eyes again with his head lowering down. The guy was about to fall asleep yet again...but he suddenly snapped his eyes open with the background behind him changing into one filled with lightning bolts. His body shook with the noticeable view of little squiggly lines outlining him with a bead of comical sweat sliding down the left side of his helmet. He felt a pressure in his abdomen as he clutched his arms firmly, and that sudden feeling absolutely blindsided him.
'GEEZE when was the last time I went?!' he thoughtfully exclaimed, suddenly standing up from his seat. Without delay he sped down the car with a stiff posture as he clenched his fists, biting his bottom lip as he held on from dear life.
Passengers on the other seats would see a sudden swift of black and green from their periferia vision, followed by some poorly animated papers hovering about. The heads of passengers would peak out in curiosity, catching the sight of Hunter awkwardly speed walking to the other end of the train car.
Finally arriving, he quickly opened the door and slammed it, the sheets of paper that followed him suddenly stopping and gently falling to the floor. The passengers who witnessed this all sweatdropped comically.
Out of all the passengers who witnessed this, there was one unique little guy who had a yellow question mark over his head. This little fellow was a interesting cat who was coated in blue fur with round eyes with black dots for iris sporting a trusty green backpack he always carried around.
"What was that all about, Natsu?" He asked in his usual childlike voice, tilting his head to the side to process what just happened.
His response was a miserable groan that came from a young man who had spiky pink hair with a white, scale patterned scarf that was wrapped around his neck. He wore a red jacket in which its sleeves were rolled up to his elbows over his iconic black and gold waist coat which was open down the middle to reveal his well built form. Underneath he wore white knee length trousers with black ribbon ties wrapped around to keep them secure. Finally he had black opened toe sandals on his feet while he had a thick, black wristband on his left wrist.
He looked miserable. His eyes were white circles while his cheeks were puffy with droll seeping out of his mouth and pooling underneath. Not to mention he had a single strand of snot hanging out from his nose.
"T-Transportation..." he groaned out, his cheeks puffing out more as it seemed like he was going to barf at any moment. "H-Happy, I'm g-gonna barf.."
Happy widened his eyes to the point the were white circles like Natsus with his fur standing on end. "AHH NOT IN THE TRAIN WE'RE ALMOST THERE!" he screamed while flapping his arms quickly.
Meanwhile in the bathroom, Hunter finished his business. He sighed in relief and walked over to the sink, humming a small tune as he felt completely satisfied and relaxed.
"Pheeew! I feel so much better now..." he sighed, reaching over and turning on the sink.
As he was about to wash his hands he suddenly stopped, getting a good look at his hands...or what they were now. They were covered in a black material that had tiny, multiple diamond shaped patterns. The only color that stood out was a neon green light strip which started at the end of his index fingers that softly glowed. It stretched all the way up to his arm which divided into two paths that reached down in front of him and behind him. His eyes followed it upwards, stopping to take a look at the weapons that were embedded into him...literally.
He had gauntlets on his wrists, both of them stretching about 3 inches before stopping. The gauntlets had patterns of light that stretched out vertically at opposite ends, their starting points curving into a hole which contained the very tip of a blade.
Closing his eyes as he knew what would come next, he looked up and opened them once more to see his accursed and emotionless reflection.
Hunters body was covered in the black, diamond shaped material to the point where it was apart of him. Not a single sign of skin could be seen from his neck all the way down to his feet. Despite all of it there was life, and that life was his color. The suit that he wore had neon green strips of light that stretched on both of his arms, their paths curving downward over his chest and stomach. They continued to move on downwards over his legs, stopping around his ankles as the strip was in a circular shape there which connected to the other strips in the same shape and pattern on his backside.
His hand reached up to his face, and all he could feel was the smooth material of his helmet that concealed it. The helmet wasn't too big as it was molded to fit his head perfectly, a downward curve seen where his chin would be. There were sone strips of green light on it as well, two small strips located on both sides of his cheeks and another one that followed the curved downward where his chin was.
For the past 18 years of his life, it was always that accursed reflection of his that was embedded into his mind from the start. Something that he saw everyday.
Hunter lowered his head and sighed to himself, shaking is head lightly as he truly didn't know who he was and what he looked like.
All of those thoughts were cut short as he felt the train slowing down, followed by the sound of a whistle.
"Hmm, guess we're here." He said, looking back down and quickly washing his hands before stepping out the door.
After some time the train had finally pulled into Hargeon Station, the whistle blew out and people were making their way around and about the station.
"U-Um, Sir?" asked a confused conductor as he looked at a sick Natsu groaning on the floor.
Suddenly Happy popped up into Natsus vision with his paws raised, "Hey! We've reached Harogeon, Natsu! Get up!" He exclaimed.
Happy was lightly pushing him as the Dragon Slayer was face flat on the floor, groaning as he was still sick from the trip with black lines streaking down from the top of is head.
"I-Is he aright?" the conductor asked with a bed of sweat dropping behind him.
Happy turned around to face the conductor with a paw raised up in the air, "Aye! This always happens to him." he replied while Natsu groaned behind him once more.
He slowly lifted up his head to reveal a miserable look for both Happy and the conductor to witness. "Never again...I'm never riding a train again.." he groaned, his cheeks puffed up as he was about to barf yet again.
Not to far from the commotion there was a set of footsteps approaching the two, those set of footsteps belonging to Hunter as he approached the exit with a bag slung over his shoulder. As he arrived he couldn't help but notice Natsu hanging his body out the window, stopping in his tracks and tilting his head to show his confusion.
"Ehm, is your friend alright there?" he asked, this gaining Happys attention as he looked over to where Hunter was standing.
At first glance Happy was quite curious with his unique look, actually never seeing someone like Hunter before until now. He looked so...emotionless.
"Aye! He's fine, he usually gets-HEEEEEY you're the one that quickly ran to the bathroom acting stiff!" he exclaimed with a goofy smile, pointing a paw at Hunter for everyone to see.
Hunter lowered his head in embarrassment as he sighed, a puff of smoke seen huffing out where his mouth was as his worst fear has come to pass. "Damnit, I was really hoping no one would see.." he muttered in shame.
"Actually almost everyone saw it!" he said, this gaining Hunters attention as he snapped his head up quickly to look at Happy once more.
"WHAT?! DID THEY?!" He asked in shock as the ends of his suit and helmet stood up and shook, showing how terrified he was.
"Aye! Who wouldn't want to see a green glowing man running to the toilet for dear life? I'd say thats worth watching!" he laughed out remembering how stiff he looked while running.
Hunter groaned and firmly slapped his hand on his helmet, looking down in defeat his he felt utterly embarrassed."Scheisse, you're right..."
Shaking his head and regaining composure, he looked back up at Happy and smiled underneath his helmet, sadly Happy wasn't able to see said smile as he grew uncomfortable at his emotionless and imitating look.
Seeing his face, Hunter sighed as he walked around Happy and outside the train. "Well it was nice meeting you two, but I gotta head off. Hope to meet you guys again."
And with that he walked off down the station, giving a small salute towards the two as he disappeared into the crowd.
Happy would see him walking off, silently thinking about the encounter he had with him.
'For such a creepy looking guy, he sure does seem cool.' he though, his tail swaying behind him, thinking about the reactions he gave out.
As he stared at the direction where Hunter left, he failed to notice that Natsu didn't even leave the train yet. Happy looked back as he heard the train whistle go off, seeing Natsu lacking pupils as tears and snot flew out as he yelled, "HELP ME!"
Happy watched as the train pulled on without stopping, staring as it chugged off into the distance.
"It left..."
A/N: Well thats that for the first chapter. Constrictive criticism is welcomed and if you don't have a clear idea on what Hunter looks like, just think of the Tron suit! After all his character based off of it! Anywho thank you for reading and I'll see you in the next chapter.
