There was one cardinal rule my sister and I abided by consistently and it was, 'Be kind and attentive to your Pokemon.' My sister, Jinx, was two years ahead of me in life and in her journey. Already sporting a fletchling, wartortle, and a dubiously acquired espurr. I admired my sister and had followed her example.
My name is Allister, my hair is a deep brown and my eyes a nice golden-brown. I was somewhat sickly when I was younger. I never really went outside, so my dad called a friend of his and he got me my little bulbasaur. He was the runt of his little bunch. I was on a mission today, walking through the calm and quiet streets of Nacrene, a little city that generated enough history for our mom to be attracted to it immediately. The old warehouses and the museum sated her itch for history, and the quiet atmosphere really helped me get used to walking long distances while I took my bulbasaur out around the city for his walks. Which was my mission. I was walking along as all of a sudden, bulbasaur dashed off.
"Bulba! Saur! Bulba!" he called as I dashed after him.
"Bulba! Bul-saur!" He yelled as I heard a loud screech and a sharp cry. I dashed over to my bulbasaur's side as he slammed into a spearow, causing it to careen into a rock. I spotted a little eevee, all bloodied and bruised. There was a bad gash on his eye as he staggered around, crying weakly. His tail was torn to shreds as his single brown eye was leaking tears. His ears were torn up, too.
I shrugged off my jacket and ran to his side, wrapping him up in its folds and carrying his beaten body all the way to the Pokemon Center, bulbasaur dealt with the spearow by restraining it to the rock with his vines.
"It's gonna be alright, little guy. It's all gonna be okay!" I assured, looking into his single brown eye as Nurse Joy took him to the back where I couldn't follow. He looked so fragile, so dejected. So much like me. I held bulbasaur in my arms, pacing nervously as I waited for thirty agonizing minutes for Joy to be done with the eevee.
"Allister! He's going to be alright, I'm glad you brought him in when you did…" Joy sighed, smiling as I breathed a sigh of relief. The little eevee was on a small bed, curled up and sleeping peacefully. My bulbasaur jumped from my arms as I picked him up and cuddled him to my chest.
"Ee?" a mew pealed out from my arms, the little eevee opened his eye and looked up at me in admiration.
"Hey, buddy! Glad you're awake!" I declared as the eevee leaned up and licked my chin.
"I think I'm gonna name you Spartan, okay? What do you think?" I asked him. The eevee considered this for a moment, before licking and nuzzling me.
"Okay! Okay!" I laughed as Spartan cooed up at me. That's how I got my second pokemon, flash forward a few weeks later and I was packing up for my journey. I was going to see the world, starting with Alola.
"Good luck, honey! Remember that Spartan and bulbasaur are with you! I'm gonna miss you!" Mom called to me as I stepped on the boat in Castelia. That ship was headed to Alola, with my dad paying for the trip there. Spartan rode on my hat as bulbasaur toddled behind me, despite having him as a Pokemon since I was five, he never once evolved into an ivysaur, no matter what happened to me or him.
I sat down on the bench, bulbasaur and Spartan curled up next to me. I wondered what new adventures awaited me out there in the world…
I woke up to someone tapping me on the shoulder, it was a man in a ball cap and lab coat with a goatee and swim trunks.
"Yo! You're Jinx's little bro, right?" The man asked.
"Uh… yeah!" I said, as the man pulled me to my feet.
"The name's Kukui! Those pokemon you got are nice! An eevee and a bulbasaur, huh?" Kukui observed.
"Yeah! Spartan's my newest addition, while I've had Bulby since I was five… I'm fifteen now so I've had him for a long while!" I laughed as Kukui looked at me with a confused expression.
"Normally, your Pokemon would be evolved by now, what's up with that?" he asked.
"I was sickly for a while until a few years back. Let's go, then!" I said as Kukui helped me with my bag as I carried Bulby in my arms. A blast of warm air hit me as I pulled out my worn-out passport, it was mostly beaten up from the elements and a few bad spills. Of course, I took care of it, but every other second it seemed that it was about to meet disaster.
Once customs was done with me I met back up with Kukui, who was speaking with a girl with longish blonde hair and pretty green eyes. She glanced up at me as I nodded in greeting.
"My name is Lillie, what's yours?" she asked.
"My name is Allister, it's nice to meet you," I responded. I didn't know this at the time, but I was about to see more than just our world, but other universes, as well. I walked with Kukui and Lillie as I saw my first city. Hau'oli was a huge city, which had a beautiful view of the ocean. It mostly depended on international commerce and tourism. I wasn't here for that, though, I was here to explore new frontiers and conquer the first real Pokemon League here!
A.N: I hoped you guys liked it, I know it's short, but the next chapter will be longer!
