The door shut with a loud slam as Rin staggered in, his body still glistening slightly with droplets of water. He brought with him a strong smell of chlorine and sweat.

"Senpai?" Nitori looked up from his book, noticing the other boy entering the room. As Rin made his way over to the bed he snatched the book out of Nitori's hands and settled himself with his head resting on top of the younger boy's crossed legs.

"Tough tournament?" Nitori had become accustomed to this kind of behavior from his redheaded companion and wasn't really phased by it anymore. Rin was Rin, Rin was like a small cat that constantly wanted to be petted and would probably do anything to attain it.

Rin nodded. "You were great, Senpai!" he added, knowing that Rin fed off of praise. "I got a seat in the front row so that I could see you better! I tried to cheer as loud as I could for you, but it was kind of hard with all the other people yelling."

A grin flickered across Rin's features, showing his sharp teeth. Rin's smile was one of those rare things that could send shivers down your spine and make small children cry, but if it was directed at you it could make you feel like the luckiest person in the world. "I saw you, Nitori." He sounded exhausted but content.

Nitori reached down and stroked Rin's crimson hair, twirling a few strands between his fingers. Rin let out a long sigh, his eyes drifting closed.

Rin, at first glance, looked to be angry and arrogant, always snapping and yelling and cruel. This was true, to an extent. But Nitori had seen Rin crying and Rin (begrudgingly) laughing and Rin jumping up and down in the stands and screaming the name of him, a less than mediocre swimmer and an average at best person, and he definitely had enough to confirm that there was far more to Matsuoka Rin than arrogance and competition.

"Rin?"

Rin didn't respond, the only sound coming out of him being his calm, barely audible breathing. It took Nitori a moment to realize that the older boy was asleep. "Senpai? Don't you have a meet soon?"

A groan escaped the sleeping swimmer. "Doesn't matter," he murmured irritably. "Stick to your own event, Nitori."

"Yes, Senpai," Nitori said with practiced politeness. Rin smiled and a small chuckle escaped him as he closed his eyes again. "Senpai?"

"What is it now? Let me fucking sleep." Rin opened one eye, somehow still managing to glare at Nitori.

"I love you, Senpai."

"I know. Now let me fucking sleep." Nitori laughed and a placed a kiss on Rin's forehead. He decided that Rin was right. The events of rest of the world really didn't matter.
