Title: Untitled Author: Naphatarie Archive?: please. Ask me first though summary: It'd give it away.
Challenge: ryogasquirrel asked to write a story with a bunny in it. This is the result."What's this?" asked Dr. McCoy picking up a vid chip on the top of a large pile on Spock's dresser.
" It is nothing of your concern Doctor. My mother left it for me during her stay on the Enterprise. It is a vid of my childhood that she thought you and the Captain would find amusing."
" If thats the case then why don't Jim and I come to your quarters at, say 1800 hours to watch it if its nothing."
" If you insist, Doctor. I will be here."
"I'll be waiting with bells on, Spock."
As the door shut behind the Doctor Spock banged a book he held in his hands against his head. He contemplated ways to get rid of the vid. He couldn't burn it, vid chips were fire resistant. He couldn't say he lost it, Vulcans never lose anything, He couldn't smash it, vid chips were near indestructible. He took a deep breath, counted to ten to himself silently in Vulcan, and knew he'd have to show them the vid.
He set up a view screen in his quarters, remembering what his mother always taught him, if you don't feel embarrassed about something, people won't tease you about it. He would have to pretend this whole thing meant nothing to him. He went to the mess hall and got a bag of popcorn for both humans and some fruit and tre-olin tea for himself.
At precisely 1800 hours he heard the door chime.
"Come" he responded as standard.
"So Spock, Bones says you have... an interesting... movie for he and I to see."
" I do captain. Sit, please. I will turn it on." Spock placed the vid chip into the view screen and a somewhat grainy home movie started. The unmistakable voice of Lady Amanda Grayson sang softly an old song Jim and Bones both clearly recognized from somewhere "Here comes the sun dedidede, here comes the sun and I say its alright." She was by a cradle and held the hand of a baby, shaking it to-and-fro to the music.
"Sis, don't you think the baby is a little too young for the Beatles?" asked a female voice from behind the camera.
" Lisa, No one is too young for the Beatles." responded Amanda, a hand subconsciously reaching up to fix her curlers.
"Shouldn't you tell our viewers at home whats going on and why your sister is on this godforsaken planet?"
" I guess. Well its five am on April 16th in the western hemisphere of Vulcan and today...is somebody's naming day!" her arms reached into the crib and pulled out a dark haired baby with pointed ears and a big smile. He held a stuffed bunny close to his chest.
The video ended there.
"At least we know this green blooded son of a bitch wasn't always an unemotional bastard!" said McCoy with a snort, getting up and leaving Spock's quarters.
"You were...a cute baby." said Jim, licking his lips nervously.
"Thank you. I'm sure my mother would agree with you."
"Your still cute now. " said Jim, coming closer, toward Spock.
"I- I... " Spock couldn't articulate a thing. His throat felt dry as he took a step back.
Jim reached up and ran two fingers down Spock's jaw. " I love you." he said as he leaned his head up and kissed him.
" Have a nice night." said the Captain as the swish of the doors greeted his exit of Spock's quarters.
Spock groped the bed behind him and fell into it and sighed. He'd have to talk to Jim tomorrow.
