The Walking Dead- Episode 1: I'm Not a Morning Person

CHAPTER ONE

I was seated at my desk when I heard the familiar plop of papers falling… on my desk. I let out an exaggerated sigh. What am I doing with my life, watching it pass by I thought.

"Time to work Churchill," my nasty boss said to me. "You know, I'm not paying you to stare out the window." And with that, she left my cubical with an evil smile.

"Time to work Churchill, I'm not paying you to stare out the window," I muttered underneath my breath.

I'm not much for first impressions, but my name is Katie Churchill. I'm 26, living in Los Angeles, and I've worked in this skyscraper for about a year and half as an insurance agent. But little do I know that that's all going to change today.

CHAPTER TWO

No one knows how the infection started. People say it might've been an experiment gone wrong, while others claim this is how the world is ending. While I have no preference on how it started, the terror started when I heard a loud shatter coming from downstairs (I work on the second floor.) Soon, petrified screams rose from the ground level. These screams were so heartbreaking, so frightened, it almost made me sad. Groans and something almost like… hissing could be heard from where I was. One brave co-worker went to see what the deal was downstairs. He never came back.

By this time I was already making my way down the office's fire escape. I'm not a brave person, but I'm not a dumb person either. I realized something terrible was happening… something not right. There was no way I was staying in there to help. It was either run or wait to die. As I crawled down the narrow escape, I saw people, er the dead, walking. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen. Something for movies. Something for stories, like this. But it was real. And it was happening. I stopped for a second to look around. There was several of the dead, even a little boy walking around. I almost felt sorry for him until I saw him chomp down on a pedestrian trying to run. Never mind. I jumped off the ladder and ran into the back alley. Nothing here but rats and trash. As I came to the end of the alley, I peeked around the side. Few dead, but facing the other way. I think they were eating someone. I almost vomited. Not looking twice, I dashed out of the dark alley.
