"I love you" Rose said with the tears stroking her face yet the doctor she held clearly in her eyes.

"Quite right too" The doctor smiled weakly.

"And I suppose …if's my last chance to say it…Rose Tyler…"

And then he was gone.

I love you.

The doctor found himself back in the Tardis and Rose had gone. His vision blurred, he hadn't even got to say it, he had worked so hard on seeing her for one last time only to not say what he wanted. And it was the last time; he was never going to get the chance again. He banged his wrists down on the ground in the unfairness of it all.

Rose Tyler sank to the ground, the tears blocking her gaze as the doctor disappeared. To see him for one last time was the best she could have ever hoped for, she captured every last thing he said, every last bit of him in her heart. She had finally told the truth about how she felt about him; at least wherever he went through time he had that knowledge stored.

The doctor took Martha to the future New York where he had been with Rose previously. As soon as he stepped out Rose sprang to his mind at once. He needed to come here, to be in the same place that Rose had been for prove that once she been here, once been with him.

He wasn't really listening to Martha; he was lost in the memories of Rose, he answered her questions without a thought about it. And then he heard her mutter "It doesn't hear the word rebound"

Rebound. It hurt he had to admit, struck him deep. Rose had never been his girlfriend; they never had a chance to, that word didn't imply and it hurt him more than he let on.

"Are you still pining after your ex?"

Rose glanced up at the man that had been after her for as long as she been here. She wasn't interested in him, it was not that he wasn't attractive just not her type, not the doctor.

Ex. The doctor had never been her ex, not that she didn't wish him to be, it's just they never got that far. She had only been able to confess her love for him, she didn't even know what he was about to say to her because he had gone before he could. She hoped that he was going to say it, that he loved her too; for there was nobody else she could love more than she could the doctor.
