The Earthbound (Tierra's Battle)
Steps into the ring, a warrior never turned
By the word that's always spreading around
It's distant enough from his ears today
As he waits patiently for the Earthbound
The Earthbound, just a name, they say
A treasure just to catch on sight
But now he stands with clarity
Waiting for the Earthbound to fight
And his senses are licked
By the emerald flames rolling in her eyes
He shivers against the heat protecting her
Chilled by the unknown disguise
Her hair sweeps the sky
A forest already touched by flame
A smile glitters across the child in her face
And she welcomes him to play the game
But he senses this rose has grown weary
Fighting the burns to hide the thorns
Flashes of blue are soon all that he sees
Their tones coaxing him to the floor
She stands over him, a new shade appearing
Deep in her blazing glare
An unwelcome rage that time has collected
Alone, he is trapped by the glare
Hungry flames show their gleaming fangs
Biting down on his shaken soul
He knows that once he's in it's jaws
He will rise to fight no more-
In the fading light of the world around, a vision
A glance of tender jade
A traquil breeze fills his heart
And the wings fold into the day
His trembling eyes come back to life
His spirit's scorched energy renewed
As he falls back into a helpless dreamworld
He sees the rose in full bloom
He rises when the light returns
It's golden shadow crossing the floor
And the silhouette vanishes into the sun
The Earthbound has won the war
Steps into the ring, a warrior never turned
By the word that's always spreading around
It's distant enough from his ears today
As he waits patiently for the Earthbound
The Earthbound, just a name, they say
