Wild Honey
These moments, these private bits of time shared just between them, were hers- theirs.
His skin glowed in the darkness, pale as porcelain, though not nearly as fragile.
He was… beautiful. There was just no other way to describe him.
He was unyielding in his loyalties, pure in his emotions. She'd seen him fight for his life, and bleed in defense of hers. She'd seen the fierceness of his protection, witnessed the catastrophic destruction he could wield when forced to do so.
But tonight she'd learned there was gentleness to him, too, a tenderness that stole her breath.
Claws that could render flesh to shreds, could also tease and caress with a reverence that at one time, seemed unthinkable. Fangs that could tear and snap viciously when provoked, could also nip playfully at her skin, sending delightful shivers of desire skittering over her flesh and down her spine.
His tongue, which could form harsh, biting words of hate and bitterness, could also utter heartfelt declarations of love and devotion, ones sealed in kisses that heated her blood.
He tasted of wild honey, she recalled. And he was hers, heart, body and soul.
"Mine", she whispered, echoing the same sentiment he so often declared.
"Stay with me?" he whispered, his eyes blinking open, holding her gaze.
"I promised I would," she smiled, reaching to cradle his hand as it lifted to cup her cheek.
"I mean forever…" he added quietly. "I want you to stay with me, forever."
"Forever," she agreed, giggling when he launched from his place on their bedding, wrapping his arms around her and twisting so she lay pinned lovingly beneath him.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," she murmured breathlessly before his mouth found hers, his hands reaffirming just how skilled and gentle they could be.
A/N: I sincerely apologize for the wait. My health has floored me this last few months, and while I have tried
desperately to write, and post, it simply wasn't possible. I know this is tiny, but I did want
to get something up to let you all know that I am still here, and still determined to continue writing.
I have been drawing up plans to extend 'The Color of Hope' on the rare occasions that my brain has cooperated, and have many new ideas ready to be written.
I hope to get going on those very soon as it has been roughly outlined and should give the story a new direction.
Please forgive the delay in updates. I miss writing for you all desperately, and I am going to push extra, extra hard to get more up for you soon.
This drabble was originally written for a prompt on FirstTweak on LJ back in February and placed 1st. It came in at 300 words exactly.
HUGS.
