"Doctor I'm afraid I mean it this time."
"Yes." He said quietly and adjusted his clothes, "Yes, I knew at some point you would."
"So am I home now?" She looked around at the tardis one last time.
"Yes, where you want to be." He cleared his throat a bit, tears in his eyes. "You were the best companion."
Clara couldn't look at him now, his sad big eyes stared at her and she could feel them. She could also feel her eyes beginning to cry too. This was it, it really has ended. They had traveled for years now, people had come and go in their travels. Like Danny and Courtney, she never suspected she'd leave too, but her she was saying goodbye to her best friend.
"You know, I wouldn't be against a huge goodbye." The doctor said smiling.
"Of course, of course."
And they hugged while she broke down crying and they continued to till she stopped.
"Well off you go and don't forget your book." He handed her her childhood treasure and she hugged it tightly.
As she left she suddenly turned to him.
"Maybe you should keep it, to remind you of me." handing it to him.
"Me keep it? It was your mothers." He didn't take it. He just looked at her quietly.
"I insist." She pressed it into his hands forcing a smile.
With that he took it and he opened the book to the last page. He took out a leaf and said,
"You remember when I said this leaf would take you home?"
She looked at it quietly.
"It only seems right to me if you kept it. Now off you go, I mean it. This has been too long."
"Will we see each other again?"
"I don't like to make promises, but perhaps you will. Every Christmas."
She smiled brightly and said, "Okay this is it. I'm really leaving."
"You are." he smiled back at her.
"Goodbye." and with that she was out the door.
As she stepped out she was confused, it was snowing. She could barely see a thing. She turned around to tell the doctor he had made a mistake, but as she did it was already fading away.
When it was finally gone, she saw him. The doctor, she was on Trenzalore.
"I sent you away." He said shocked. "I just sent you away."
"You did." she started to cry again, "But you sent me back."
And suddenly he grabbed her and hugged her, "Oh Clara, my Clara."
"You have no idea how long it's been since I heard that."
There was a lot of kissing after that for what Clara said was a mistake he was never her boyfriend and for on the doctor's part his as well. It was after that early in the morning that she had told him some of her adventures and she showed him her book.
"Oh me and river had something like this."
"You did?"
"Yeah, I think it's best I don't read all of it. Spoilers."
She smiled and curled into his arms.
"So what now my impossible girl?"
"Well, you said you were taking me home and I ended up here. So you tell me."
He smiled and kissed her on the cheeks, "Well then, welcome home."
