Katherine had decided that letting Elijah had the cure may not have been the smartest idea, but she was not going to double cross him to retrieve it once more. Her love for him was more important than her freedom and if that meant she would be running from his brother until the day she was finally dead and gone, then so be it. There was no way she could convince him, or anyone for that matter, that she was being truthful — that she truly loved him or that he meant more to her than the cure; and so she figured that letting him take things into his own hands was the best idea, even if it meant that they would never be together.

After she had returned to her home, she'd managed to clean up most of the mess left about after she'd practically drowned Damon in the fish tank, and made a mental note that if she ever came back to the town, to buy fish. It'd make things less obvious. She was trying to the best of her ability to keep her mind from returning to Elijah, but it was near impossible. The more she thought about him, the more she realized that Elijah loved his family over everyone; and despite his desire to be with his family, Klaus could never be trusted; even if he did still withhold some, if any, morals. Katherine had witnessed firsthand Klaus daggered Elijah after he had said he'd reunite him with their family, and knew straight away that, if things were that bad with Silas in Mystic Falls, Klaus could very well dagger Elijah after getting the cure from him.

The Petrova knew that, despite the consequences, she must return to Mystic Falls and warn the man she loved before it was too late. She'd packed light; just as she always did, so that she would be ready to leave the town and never look back, after she was sure that Elijah was safe. She didn't want anyone to know that she was in town, but she had a hunch that they would find out sooner or later, and that meant Klaus would as well; thus the large pep talk Katherine had given herself on during the very long drive from Pennsylvania to Virginia.

It was nearing midnight once the vampire had arrived in Mystic Falls. She'd dumped the car she'd compelled off of one of the citizens of the town she had been in prior to her departure and was hesitant to interact with anyone who saw her and believed she was Elena. Despite this, she made her way through the town and to the Mikaelson Mansion. She was nervous and felt sick to her stomach. Elijah was her humanity; all that she had left on the earth, aside from her estranged ancestor Elena, and if anything had happened to him, she would never forgive herself for getting him into the mess.

She made sure that Rebekah, nor her hybrid older brother could see her as she crept through the house and sped her way up the stairs as the two were talking, or rather so talking about something involving Silas and the cure, and stopped as she heard movement down the hall. She'd managed to hide behind a corner before she heard a door shut and took a deep breath before she'd sped over to the door; listening intently. Once she'd heard a shower running, she gave herself one last pep talk before she gently pushed open the door and crept inside.

At first glance, she could tell that the room was instantly of high class taste; a mixture of things that both Elijah liked, and few art pieces that she was sure had either been Niklaus' handiwork or something he had acquired over the years. She'd become lost roaming the room that she had not heard the shower stop, or the Original vacate the bathroom.
