A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…..

Rick Castle was getting everything together for family movie night. Popcorn: check; Milk Duds: check; Diet Coke: check; yes, he had everything he needed. He had the Blu-Ray of Star Wars: A New Hope in the Blu-Ray player and ready to go. Alexis was sitting on the couch. Now he just needed the rest of the family. He headed into their bedroom to look for Kate.

"Hey, Kate, are you ready? I've got everything we need. I can't believe I'm going to finally watch Star Wars with my son!" Rick had been waiting for this day since James was born. Kate turned to look at him, and gave him an eye roll.

"You do know that our son is only six months old, right? He isn't going to remember a single thing about this movie," Kate shook her head as she finished changing Jamie. She loved Star Wars, but she did think her husband was pushing this a bit. But she had put the Star Wars onesie on Jamie; she agreed that he looked adorable. "And I realized something else. How old were you when Star Wars came out?"

"I was eight. Mother took me the first time, then after that I bugged my baby sitters to take me. Why?" He picked Jamie up and cuddled him, and then he started walking into his office where the big screen television was set up.

Kate followed him into the room. "You know how old I was? I wasn't even born! Gosh, you're old!" she teased her husband. He responded with a hurt look on his face and a mutter. She greeted Alexis with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Hey bud, glad you could make it," Kate said.

"Hey Kate! I wouldn't miss it for the world," said Alexis with a big grin.

"Come on, he's ready, let's go," Rick walked over to the couch and started the movie as Kate sat down next to him. She had to admit, Jamie did look fascinated with the whole thing. But then, any time he got a present, he liked the box more than the toy. And then she looked over at Rick. He was staring at their son, and he had the biggest smile on his face. Then he started to explain the movie to James, and James looked at his dad like he was hanging on his every word.

Kate wished she had her phone close by; she needed a picture of this adorable moment. Luckily, Alexis had her phone and started to take pictures of the two Castle men, watching a movie together. She had to blink a few times so she wouldn't cry. For all that she teased Rick she knew this meant a lot to him. He never got to do this with his dad. Alexis also seemed to be enjoying the moment. She loved all the firsts she got to do with James, just like Rick did.

And then she started looking at the screen, and was soon caught up in the movie. After all, she was a sci-fi geek too, and this was one of her favorite movies of all time. And she had a feeling that when the day came and they watched The Empire Strikes Back, Rick would certainly repeat Darth Vader's famous line – "I am your father" – to their son. She didn't doubt this for a minute. And she couldn't wait to experience it either.
