Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was a school that hosted hundreds of students every year, nurturing young witches and wizards, teaching them spells and potions so that they could become functioning, helpful members of their society. Over the countless years Hogwarts had existed, it had laid host to millions of students and millions of lives. Every student that walked the halls had a story, a life, a moment where Hogwarts had affected them, shaped them, changed them, be it for better or worse almost every witch and wizard within the school district had attended Hogwarts and held a life there.

In the 1977 school year, beginning in the fall of 1976, Hogwarts laid host to numerous students and stories, stories that interacted , overlapped, became muddled as one. At the start the 1977 school year Frank Longbottom was in love with, and had been for years, a girl who didn't even know he had existed. Alice Fawley had made a series of increasingly poor decisions. James Potter was continuing to plug away at a seemingly hopeless cause, while his friend, Remus Lupin, was just plain hopeless. Florence Marx was in love with a boy with whom she didn't stand a chance, and Lily Evans wanted to forget, but not forgive.

During the 1977 school year Sirius Black would manage to systematically ruin almost every relationship he possessed, while Peter Pettigrew would try his hardest to keep his together. Dorcas Meadowes would continually feel as though she didn't really belong anywhere, but was rather simply there. Marlene McKinnon would suffer the constant unbearable notion of being lost, lonely, and confused. And Mary MacDonald, well Mary would have no idea what she wanted.

Each person, important in their own way, would have a hard year ahead of them, a year that would teach them more than they had been taught throughout the rest of their Hogwarts career. 1977 was a year of importance in history, not only because of the war, but because it was the year that James befriended Lily, and Lily properly met James. It was the year that Alice and Frank shared a bond over Herbology and a desire to be Aurors. The year that Mary would meet a boy that'd show her it would all be all right, that Marlene would find herself, and in the process Dorcas. It was the year that Peter would lose everything, and never properly gain it back. The year Remus would grapple with his condition more than he ever had before, and the year that Sirius Black would finally, properly grow up. It was the year that Florence would learn that first loves weren't always meant to be, and giving yourself up for a boy would never end well.

But most of all, it was the year that everyone, all eleven students of different houses, ages, personalities, and blood would grow to form a group that would later be famous. They would comprise a large portion of the influential Order of the Phoenix, play a hand in ending the war, and it would all begin in one school, in one year. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, 1977, or more properly, September 1976.
