A/N: First: This might contain spoilers for story mode and Octo Expansion in the future, so you might want to avoid it later, but for now it's good.
Second: This will have multiple references to random games, series, music and etc. on the long run but nothing to the point of being considered a crossover
Notes:
"Hello" – Speaking
'Hello' – thinking
Character info (Will have multiple updates):
Emily Harfil: Your average 16y/o inkling girl, white skin, brown eyes and a love for turf wars. Lives in a small flat and hasn't seen her parents in a long time, but tries to keep contact frequently. Likes to use shooters.
Tom Red: An inkling boy from the exterior of Inkopolis, proven to be quite skillful in a variety of weapons, but its excessive sweet personality makes people around him feel a bit awkward. Known for having red tentacles, which is quite rare. Emily's close friend. Uses mostly rollers or brushes.
Vera Rayfind: An inkling girl with a merciless taste for winning, she can become angry and annoying from time to time, sometimes even aggressive, but even with all that, she has a soft spot for Tom's sweetness. A great bamboozler.
Carl D. Vito: An inkling boy with an interest for all things mechanical. Almost never plays turf war, because wants to make a name for himself for weapon crafting but doesn't have a license for it. Known for spending a whole day in front of ammo knights insisting for Sheldon to take him as an apprentice.
?: Appeared around Inkopolis one day and made a deal with Emily, ever since she brings a lot of money and S. sea slugs to him every once in a while.
It was a dark night in Inkopolis, being almost 3AM and with the Deca tower closed nobody would be around anyway, but there was one girl walking around in the darkness, and that would be Emily.
After walking for about 10 minutes she reached the square, with all stores closed, the place really wasn't all popular at night, the only open place there usually was Grizzco, but it was closed today so the place was clean of any activity.
"Hey kid." A voice said, startling her, but after seeing who it was she calmed down and walked over to it.
The figure was enormously tall, standing almost twice Emily's height, plus, it was using a trench coat, black pants, boots and a hat, successfully concealing all of its appearance.
"I got what you asked for. Did you bring your part of the deal?" The figure said, its voice was deeper than most inklings.
Emily nodded and handed him the bag she was carrying. After checking its contents, he released a small hum and handed her a big black briefcase, on it was written, "Bright Sunshine Set".
"Are you sure Judd isn't going to stop me from using these in turf wars?" She asked him.
"Don't worry, I've already talked to him, so you should be able to use it without a problem." He said, finishing checking the bag. "Go out there, and show others who's the real star there." He said in a surprisingly encouraging tone for such an ominous figure.
Emily bowed after that in thankfulness, she had been waiting quite a while for this. "Thank you, I'll sure do." She said, but after realizing the figure started to walk away she tried to catch up to him.
"So… Do you want to…" She tried to say something, but was shortly interrupted.
"For the fifth time, no." He said back in its cold tone.
Emily sighed in defeat, turning away and walking back home, not before yelling "Thanks anyway!" To him from a distance, in which he replied, "Nice doing bussines!"
Arriving home, she threw the briefcase on her bed and opened it. Although expected, the contents of it still surprised her.
Inside there was 4 things: White leather boots with shining gold soles. A neo octoling armor, but instead of black and silver it was white and shiny gold, and what it looked like a white headset that had a microphone, a golden antenna and an one eye yellow visor (You know Vegeta's red visor thing from the classic "It's over 9000!" episode? It's basically that but with a microphone and an antenna).
After marveling at the clothes for a while, Emily noticed the last item from the brief case, which was coincidently the most important one.
It was a splattershot jr. but just like all items on the briefcase it was purely white with a golden line on both sides, a small mirror attached to its side and a big golden H on top of it, it was extremely shiny.
'Well I can see why its called bright sunshine.' She thought to herself as she examined the weapon.
Putting the clothes in her wardrobe and the weapon on her table, she set of for her night routine and went to bed, tomorrow was time to test some stuff.
During the whole walk to Deca tower Emily got attention from basically everyone she passed by, with all that gold in her outfit she was basically a walking mirror, not that she minded though, she asked for the flashiest outfit that the weird guy could get her, and hell he took it literally.
It didn't took long before she spotted her teammates an went to talk to them, although the probably spotted her first.
"Holy hell Emily I know you like to showoff, but you don't need to dress as a spotlight!" Vera said in a annoyed tone.
"Hello Vera I'm' going great too." Emi said joking.
"Wow, I'm impressed, when you said you were going to get a new outfit I didn't expect to be a new release. Were did you buy it?" Tom said in his usual cheerful voice.
"That's a little secret of mine, but I'm not done yet." She said as she pulled out her new weapon with a spin. "NEW WEAPON?!" She heard from both her teammates, which actually called the attention of many people in the square, after all, what's fresher than a brand new weapon?
"I looks so cool!"
"So shiny!"
"Where did you get it?!"
She could hear all of the people gathering around herself, she couldn't wait to showoff with it in battle, maybe people could stop thinking she was so generic that way.
"What does the H on it means?"
That question caught her quite off guard, she was so distracted with her wish for glory that she didn't think about that…
'Wait, its probably the brand's name first letter, just like the K in Kensa.' She thought to herself
Emily managed to avoid the crowd and get to the tower with her team, Judd gave her a weird look as she passed by him, but he didn't stop her, so it should have no problem.
"Ok now, no joke, where did you get an unreleased weapon?" Vera said, genuinely interested.
"Well, many things happen at night in Inkopolis, and lets say I got a deal for all the set with a weird guy that appeared in a park one day." Emi said very proud.
Tom looked concerned with what she said. "Emi you shouldn't mess around with this kin…"
"How much did it cost?!" Vera said interrupting Tom.
"100000 coins and 15 S. Sea Slugs".
"WHAT!?" Vera and tom said.
"HOW THE HE…" Vera got interrupted by the ding of battle time.
"Questions later, battle now." Emi said.
Everything was going quite smoothly for Emi, the random in her team didn't completely suck, they were at ancho V games (her favorite stage) her team was winning the battle, and there were quite a few spectators watching it.
But during the battle she noticed 1 thing, she forgot about her special weapon.
The can had a symbol she never seen before, it looked like a small cylinder with a pulling pin on top, so it probably was something like a very powerful splat bomb or something like that.
"Watch out!"
Emi instantly swam back as she heard the warning, successfully avoiding a Dynamo roller strike, it didn't take long for her to rush back to the front to help Tom deal with the guy.
"Thanks for the warning." She said, after getting the jump on the enemy and splatting him.
"Why were you so distracted! (Looks at the can) What's with the weird special?" he said, still turfing.
"That's what I was wondering, I never bothered to check."
Turning her head she realized 2 inklings approaching them from the other side of the middle zone.
"Welp then now's time to try it" he said looking at her.
(Other team's POV)
"C'mon, only 20 seconds left! If we can splat them we can take the middle!" One of them said while the other nodded.
The 2 of them jumped down not knowing what waited them.
"Catch!" Emi said, throwing the object at them.
"Wait what's tha-PIIIIIIIIIIII*"
He could only see white, and extremely bright white, he tried to scream, but couldn't hear anything but a high pitch noise.
After about 3 seconds his vision and hearing started to come back to him, then realizing he had fallen to the ground and dropped his weapon.
His teammate was shaking him, saying something he couldn't understand.
After 5 seconds he could hear well again.
"What the HELL was that!" He said, still a bit dazed.
(Emi's POV)
"Well, according to the can… It's called a Flashsplat" Emi said, looking at the lid of the special can.
Both teams were confused with what just happened, but their thinking was cut short by the whistle that meant the match was over.
