The Grim Reaper of New Meridian
The full moon gleamed over the field outside New Meridian. As the camera zooms out we see the outline of a man hanging by a rope tied to a gnarled old tree. Lightning crashes and next to the tree appears a tall, grim figure. Feared by most and respected by all, it is Death.
Death takes one swing with their scythe and cuts the rope. The corpse falls like a bag of rocks to the ground. "Get up." Black smoke billows from Death's skull and enters the corpse. Rotting lungs breathe out…
-4 Days Earlier-
A well dressed man stands in a phone booth, presumably speaking to his employer.
"Boss, I told you, there is NO WAY that cat dame is alive." Lynch Cancio spoke to his employer over the payphone. "How do I…I cut her up myself for hell's sake! Natalie Fortune is at the bottom of the bay, in hundreds of pieces, just like she's been for the last…three…Boss why did you call me to talk about this?" That is when the rather burly man finally stepped out of the shadows, striking Lynch in the back of the head.
"Are you always this late? I've been stuck hanging from that tree for three days waiting for you to show up." Lynch slowly picked himself up off the ground, what's left of the noose hanging around his neck forming a decent new tie. "Well. Do it already, take me to-"
"I have a proposition, Lynch Cancio." Death cut off Lynch. "I assume you aren't particularly appreciative of your employer, Lorenzo Medici, having you killed? Well I am not fond of his many attempts to cheat me."
"And this affects me how?"
"Simple. I am going to give you forty-eight hours, ONLY forty-eight hours, to remain in this partially dead form. During that time, you will defeat the newest SkullGirl and bring that wretched Skullheart to me. I am tired of that pesky thing tampering with my domain. Once you do that, I will give you two things in return."
"I'm listening."
"First, I will open the pearled gates and grant you access to heaven rather then you're well deserved sentence. Second, I will grant you the honor of reaping the very soul of Lorenzo Medici from his cheating body, and the satisfaction of sending the decrepit fool to hell yourself."
Lynch goes quiet, before a wicked grin. "Gladly"
