Did you know...it was all going so wrong for you

And did you see it was all going so right for me

Harry wandered aimlessly through the corridors of Hogwarts castle. He had a blank expression on his face and his usually bright, bottle green eyes had faded to a dull green.

Why did we tell you then

You were always the Golden Boy then

And that you'd never loose that light in your eyes

Harry couldn't stand being in the common room anymore. Or even the library for that matter. He, Ron, and Hermione had spent so many hours there. Just hanging out. Since they had been killed, the corridors were the only place that didn't remind him of them.

Hey you...did you ever realize what you'd become

The war against Voldemort had ended. Everything in the world was starting to look right again. But it was at the cost of his two best friends. Harry wondered if it was all worth loosing everything that ever ment anything to him.

And did you see it wasn't only me that you were running from

Did you know all the time but it never bothered you anyway

Harry came out of his trance-like state and found himself sitting on the astronomy tower. He leaned back and looked up at the stars. It had been night, during the battle. Harry had entered the Riddle manor and was greeted by the dying bodies of his friends suspended in midair. As he stepped forward to help them, their bodies came crashing to the ground. He gathered them up in his arms.

Leading blind while I stared out the steel in your eyes

Ron had been the first to speak. His words stood out clear in Harrys mind.

"Sorry we couldn't stop him for ya, mate. Looks like you'll have to take it from here. Say bye for me."

As soon as his words ceased, so did the beating of his heart, and he fell limp.

Hermionie shuddered and spoke.

"Harry, I just wanted you to know that I love you. You were always more than a friend to me. Don't forget."

She too fell limp.

The rain fell slow, down on the roofs of uncertianty

Tears streaked down Harrys face as he remembered the deaths of his best friends. If he was the Boy Who Lived, the child that defeated Voldemort, the Savior of the wizarding world, why couldn't he save his friends.

Then, as he looked towards the lake, reflecting the full, vibrant moon, he remembered the hours they had spent iceskating in the winter. The hours spent swimming in the spring. The hours spent just sitting and watching in the fall. A small smile flickered at the corners of Harry's mouth, but never more than a flicker.

I thought of you and the years and all the sadness fell away from me

And did you know...

Harry allowed himself to fall onto the floor of the tower in exhaustion. He hadn't slept in days. Every time he shut his eyes, the events of that fateful night filled his head. His once bottle-green eyes shut, closing out the world around him.

I never thought that you'd loose that light in your eyes.
