AN: Written for Day 1 of InuKag Week 2016: "Growth"
This work is my first time using the style of experimental fiction, so the formatting is non-traditional and stylized, going more in the direction of stream of consciousness than a conventional narrative.
the world seemed to sharpen into focus individual leaves rustled in the breeze and Kagome could see the sunlight gleam off every one of them and the air itself shimmered emerald and gold around the shining pearl of his hair
her lungs expanded fully for the first time in three years and the bereavement she put herself through crumbled under her fingers why did it matter why had she been in so much pain
all she remembered from her life on the other side was the gray that permeated every surface the walls the roads her reflection in the mirror where she could see the bitterness clogging her veins
she had saved the world where was her happy ending where was her peace was this it all her life would come to and she shouldered her soul her burden to bear alone her resolution in this place she stood alone
but it had come here he was InuYasha in a world full of color a world she would never be alone again and the bubbling giddiness of the girl she once was the girl she had left behind spilled from her throat blanketed in the comfort of his arms
rooted in the grass on the other side their side wound together taller and stronger and resilient they were no longer two halves as they had grown into an indomitable whole
