This is for the 60 Challenge by Key of Destiny4ever. And it's my first time writing, so hope you enjoy I guess.
1. Water
He was her source of life, like a plant needed water, she needed him. At least that's what she thought, but when he broke up with her, she learned to live without that water, without him. She moved on, finding new ways to survive, a plant learning to find other sources of water, instead of using the acid that rained down. She made new friends, left her old ones, left her boyfriend, and left her old self all behind, ready to start anew. She was still broken inside, even as a new person, the pain wouldn't leave. She had loved him.
She was so clingy, like a old man who was supposedly dying of thirst. She hung onto him as if he was the last drop of water in the world. He hated her, but she was hot and a cheerleader, so he told her he loved her and she believed him. So innocent, so naive. He was just using her to date the head cheerleader, who only liked guys who were taken, hence the dating. He finished his last lap around the football field to get a drink of water. Just like she did, he hung onto the last drop of water in the bottle, savoring it.
She watched as he ran to the bench to grab his bottle of water. Water. The source of all the living things. The liquid that kept her alive. He had kept her alive. He was her water. She needed him, but he had moved on, dating her ex-bestfriend. She had gotten rid of her ex-bestfriend, of her ex-boyfriend, of her past, and moved on. She had left her source of water.
She had been so pure, so naive. Just like the crystal clear water in the lake just a mile beyond their school. The spot where their relationship had began. Where he had asked her to be his girlfriend. Where she had jumped into his arms as he said yes. Where he had pulled her into the water. Where he gave kissed her for the first time. Her first kiss. Where he told her he loved her. Where she told him she loved him back. Where they began this new part of their life. Now, he could still see the pain on her face as he passed her in the hallway, the forced smiles, the fake laughs. He knew it hurt her, but it was worth it. He had won the one he wanted. The one that wasn't Kim.
She sighed, it had hurt her so much. Like a wave crashing down on her heart, her dreams, her life. He was the wave, and he had broken her. He had crushed her. He was her water. She needed him, like crops need rain, but he left her in a dry spell. Left her there to die without any water. Brett had been her water.
Water. The source of all life. The root of all evil and all good. The most important part of her life, just washed away. Like water at the beach, washing away the sandcastle. Washing away her heart.
