While the men of Sparta wasted their precious time torturing themselves in the wild and learning how to use ridiculous weapons and giant steel dining-plates, the women of Eireyden trained together. They did not believe in separation. Yes, I said women. In Eireyden the army, although very small, was made up of extremely powerful women. There were men here also, but they didn't take part in the army. Men served themselves as family men and protected their families in the means of tucking their children in at night and locking the door and windows. Families were kept together for as long as possible, except the teenage girls. Every three years, the captains of Eireyden would select only the most potent and intelligent teenage girls. They were tested not of only their strength, but mentality as well, in ways much more humane than the silly Spartans did. Tested at the age of 13, it was every girl's dream to be apart of the legendary army of the Eireydens. Only 22 girls were selected, divided in half they were separated to be trained by the two different captains.
The two captains, as the stories claim, were once sisters torn apart because of a horrible misfortune between their parents. This was why families were such a core point in the Eireyden culture. But of course, as most stories are, these were untrue…but just in their own way as well. Although the two captains were not sisters, they might as well have been. They had grown up together in a poor Spartan village, with a group of rebels. These rebels were eventually thrown out for…well…rebelling. They were just dumped into the wilderness in the midst of winter. One of these two girls, Ambrosia, had fallen behind because she had become ill. The group of rebels told the rest to leave her, but Spyridoula couldn't leave her sister, so she went back for Ambrosia. Hera found sitting on a rock, staring into the sky, as if she hadn't even gotten sick in the first place. The two 'sisters' didn't go back to their tribe. Ambrosia and Spyridoulalived in the wilderness for three years, until they were thirteen. One day, they found a near-broken city. They're hearts told them to help the people, because they knew what it was like to suffer and they didn't want these people to bleed with the same fate as them, so they took over, and the rest is history…
