A/N: Ficlet prompt from Anonymous on tumblr: Caskett Kiss in the rain (angsty-ish). Set after Beckett resigns in Always.

What the hell has she done? What in god's name was she thinking? Here was this man, this amazing man who loved her more than anyone ever had, a man she loved more than anyone she ever had, and she threw that all away to go flying off a roof.

Once she resigned, she just needed to think. About what she wanted, what she was supposed to do now. After she dropped her bag off at home, she went on a walk to nowhere in particular. After about half an hour, it started raining, no more like downpouring. She looked to her right then back in front of her but quickly looked back to her right. The swings. Their swings. It was like she didn't have control over her feet because before she knew it, she was crossing the street and sitting on the swing, looking at the other one wishing he was there next to her. In that moment, she knew she had to make things right with him. He had to know how she really- She was pulled from her thoughts when she heard the familiar call of her surname come from behind her. She turned her body toward the voice, then stood up, wiping the tears or raindrops from her face, she wasn't quite sure which. "Castle. What are you doing here?"

"I could say the same to you."

Screw it. She flew to him, her hands going to his face, pulling it toward her and tilting her head toward his, placing a fierce kiss on his lips.

As much as he would love to instantly give into her and do what he's wanted to do for so long now, he respected her too much. Instead, he pulled her hands away from his face and noticed her swollen knuckles. He looked down at them then back at her, noticing dark purple ovals on her neck that looked a hell of a lot like finger marks. "What happened?"

"I was pushed off a roof by my shooter. I almost died and the only thing I cared about, the one thing I could possibly think about….was you." She took her hands out of his then fisted the sides of his shirt before moving to kiss him again. But she stopped just short of it to see if he would come to her. When he didn't she rested her forehead against his. "I'm so sorry Castle. I am so…so sorry. I should never have gone after him. You were right. I'm done with the case. You're too important." She lifted her lips toward his once again to see if it was enough and it was. Their lips fused together but as soon as it started to escalate, he pulled away again and she thought, this is it. I screwed up way past what he'll-

"We should probably move this out of the rain and to one of our apartments."
