Jr. High student Kazuma Kuwabara had fallen asleep at his desk.
He'd been studying all week for his upcoming exam, and Shizuru hadn't allowed him a moment away from his books all night.
It was a light tapping noise that woke the young man.
At first he ignored it, but a miserable sounding "meow" had the teen on his feet and at the window in a heartbeat.
It was raining outside, but Kazuma opened the window, staring at the shivering jet black cat.
"Hey little fella how long have you been out there? You'll get sick!" Kazuma swept the cat up, and scrambled to the bathroom to get a towel.
The cat made and irritated sound as the teen scrubbed its silky black fur dry.
"There all dry now... I bet Eiikichi would like to have a friend around the house..." Kazuma petted the cat between the ears, "I think I'll call you Miki..."
The cat purred quietly, and the teen chuckled.
