Sacrifice
"Don't hurt your friends, Katara," Hama hisses.
Her eyes widen.
The old woman pulls her arms sharply together. "And don't let them hurt each other."
The ice securing Aang and Sokka breaks, and the blood in their bodies is still in Hama's complete control.
She jumps forward, screeching, "No!"
Then, there's a scream of pain.
A shout of her name. Aang's voice.
Red spots dot her vision.
Her lips part, she inhales in agony.
Her body shakes and her hands tremble.
She turns her head and looks into the bloodshot eyes of her brother. Tears are forming at the corners. His lips move, but no words come.
To her right, a blinding, iridescent light erupts, lifting Hama and sending her crashing into a tree. She lays at the trunk, limp and unmoving.
Katara drops to her knees, Sokka's sword still inside her. He removes the weapon quickly, causing her to shudder. She pulls her hands away from her side and-
the world goes black.
