Lily walked down the corridor of Hogwarts, passing the dancing pumpkins on the wall that had been put up for Halloween. Rumor was the boys had been daring each other to take them down and give them to the girl they loved. Even though she was only in fourth year, she knew a few girls who had gotten a dancing pumpkin.

Sirius, James, Peter and Remus were standing in the corner of the corridor, and Sirius had a dancing pumpkin in his hand, trying to give it to James.

"Come on, James! Just take the damn pumpkin and give it to her," he said. Lily became curious, she wasn't one for gossip, but rumors had been going around that he was going to give it to a girl he had supposedly been dating for the summer, Maria Kellman, a blue eyed, blonde Slytherin girl who could draw anything you asked her to. James probably liked her because she would draw him if he asked.

Maria passed James precisely at this moment, hugging James from behind and kissing him on the cheek, whispering something in his ear.

James turned around and smiled at her, kissing her back. Lily felt like she was intruding a little bit, watching them, but it was all her roommates had been talking about for days. Lily was surprised at James' behavior around Maria. She seemed to make him nervous. She had never seen James Potter nervous.

James looked at Sirius, who shoved the dancing pumpkin into his hands, and James then slowly handed it to Maria. She smirked at him, grabbed the collar of his robes and kissed him firmly on the mouth. He wrapped his hands around her back, still kissing her.

"Get a room, you two," Sirius shouted in James' ear, making him jump.

Lily rolled her eyes. Boys, she thought, glad that she and James were only friends. She couldn't live with Sirius 24/7.

She kept walking down the hall, thinking that today, maybe she'd have some gossip on James Potter, instead of just listening to her roommates blabber on and on and on.
