*Author's note. I own nothing, etc. Well, most of it I do, simply not the characters. This was originally just a little thing I wrote, and I realized it would do well as a Loki/Black Widow ficlet thing. Hope you enjoy!*
The music caressed down her spine, rolling her under it's all too familiar spell. The passion in the piece swayed her, heightened her senses, and made her long for someone to share in her solitude.
Solitude can be shared, as long as one does not trust the other. She thought with a twisted smirk.
The music's rolling rhythm suddenly changed from sensual and slow, to purposeful.
Her eyes narrowed to mere slits. That was her signal. Concentration completely on the music, she moved sinuously, following its patterns. Urgent, rhythmic patterns. Her footsteps guided her to her position, and she waited. As the music swelled with passion and purpose, she stepped into the circle of light, knife drawn.
Her prey drew ever closer.
Hunter and hunted, hunter and prey. Those words kept her from going mad. They were safer, saner than remembering her actual title. Assassin.
The final notes of the music died out, and silence took it's place as she lunged forward, burying her knives into the stomach and neck of the man she had waited so long to kill.
A gurgling gasp as the man's body went limp assured her she would have no need to strike again. Withdrawing her knives from the corpse, she turns, her pupils strangely dilated in the light. The music begins again, filling her with the same desire for solitude. She kills because of the music. The torturous music that he wove into her head. He would be pleased with my work tonight. The only relief she was allowed was when someone shared her utter solitude in the moments before she took their life. He used the music to his advantage, using her as a cold blooded killer. She danced to his music that he played for her. In the depths of her mind, she sought vainly for release of her mind from the music, the insane, never-ending music. Secretly, in her heart of hearts, she was glad she had never broken free. She loved dancing to his music.
