Someone to lean on

She just sat there. Her brown eyes filling up with silver tears, trying to desperately hold them back, but they were just too powerful. They streamed down her cheeks and ended in a pool of water down beside her. She buried her face into her soft, small hands, letting out gasps of air in agony. Her hair was a mess, more than it had even been before, but that was the least of her worries. There she sat, in pain and sorrow, over her two best friend's fresh graves.

He watched her. He just stood back there and let her suffer, knowing she was all alone, that there was no one to comfort her. Gosh he felt like such a pathetic loser, a coward. Slowly he gained the courage that the Gryffindor Princess had lost, and walked over to the distressed girl. He stood next to the brunette for a while, unsure of what to do or what to say. Gradually he bent down. His blond hair rustled in the wind as he turned to the weeping brunette that sat beside him.

For a few moments they just sat in silence. He could hear the muffled cries she let out, only to be trapped by her own hands. The sorrow the girl tried to suppress was far too great for her to handle, too big for her petite hands to conceal. She released a cry of throbbing pain, wanting it all just to go away, just to be as it was before. But it was too late. He saw this pain, it was written all over her shattered face.

He couldn't bear it any longer, to just sit there, not offering any comfort or any support, so he extended his arm and gently placed it around the brunette only to be brushed away.

"Get away from me!" She screamed. Her hurt and pain turned into anger and fury. She stood up and moved away from the startled blond.

"Sorry..." He gently spoke. "I'm sorry...I'll leave you alone..." He went to turn around, respecting her wishes. He did not wish to upset the girl, he just wanted to help.

"Wait..."Her voice was so soft as it trailed off into the silence. "Stay...please..."her quite voice was hard to hear at first, but the tall blond gradually came closer to the weeping brunette. He stood next to her in silence as she cried. He hated seeing her like this. This feisty, courageous Gryffindor so lifeless and depressed.

He offered her his arms as a sanctuary, somewhere where she did not have to be a brave lioness. She gratefully accepted his offer, wanting nothing but to get away from it all, to get away from reality. She wanted a place where everything was peaceful and quite, someplace close but distant.

They stood there. The slender blond's arms wrapped gently around the small brunette, as she cried softly into his chest. She had no idea what tomorrow would hold, but for right now she was glad to have someone to lean on.

Authors Note:

I think that it is a cool idea that Draco manages to become friends with Harry and Ron, but this was an idea that came to me that seems more realistic. It's my first official fanfic, so be gentle with me. :)
