Working at a Gas-n-Sip was not a fun job. In fact, Haven Cartwright hated it. Until one day when a new guy was hired. He had short dark hair, bright blue eyes, and a square jaw covered in stubble. He was a bit taller than her and seemed really reserved. Nora did his general training and then passed him off to Haven. She smiled brightly as she introduced herself.

"Hi! I'm Haven. Nice to meet you," she said, sticking out her hand.

"I am Ca- Steve. Nice to meet you," he replied, shaking her hand. She was looking forward to getting to know him.

Haven and Steve became friends quickly. She had also developed a bit of crush on him. It really sucked when Nora asked him out. He said yes but he seemed panicky when he called a friend. she watched as he tried to fix the slushie machine while on the phone.

"Steve!" she cried as slushie started going everywhere. She rushed to his side and shooed him away.

"I'll clean it up," he told her. She smiled and shook her head.

"I've got it. Go finish your call," she replied.

"Thank you," he said before walking to the back room. She wished she could just tell Steve how she felt.

The next morning, Steve came into work looking kind of depressed. Haven greeted him with her usual smile despite her worry.

"Good morning, Steve. How was your date with Nora?" she asked. He didn't look at her.

"I ended up babysitting while she went on a date with someone else," he replied quietly. Haven rushed to give him a hug.

"I'm so sorry! She should have made it clear what she was asking," she said, angry that Nora had hurt Steve. He wrapped his arms around Haven.

"I am always clear when I ask questions. I don't understand how other people hide their true meanings," he said sadly. Haven pulled away and looked up at him.

"Steve, would you like to go on a date with me?" Haven asked. He tilted his head to the side cutely. "Was my question clear?"

"Yes. And yes," he said with a slight smile. Haven beamed.
