House of Whacks
by Rawr It's Kizami
Kai slipped his key into the lock and turned it. From the moment he had stepped foot onto the property he realized that something was different. Wrong. Unnerving. The house was way too quiet for it to be a normal Saturday afternoon, and 'normal' for them meant that Max would be planted firmly in front of the television watching American cartoons, Tyson eating them all out of a house and home in the kitchen, and Ray either melting his brain with Max or trying to keep Tyson away from their emergency food supplies.
No... It was way too quiet. There were no sounds of mind numbing animations or loud chewing coming from anywhere. Kai found it impossible to think up a logical reason as to why the house sounded like regular people actually lived there.
He didn't know how long he stood outside the door with his key dangling out of the lock, immersed in his own thoughts.
- CRASH -
Crimson orbs immediately focused and Kai pushed the door open. He quickly ran inside the house and found himself standing amidst a mess; the couch was overturned, there were water spots all over the living room, and a blue vase lay shattered on the rug. The Russian found himself assuming the worst had happened.
Hearing another sound from the upstairs, Kai immediately pursued the noise, all the while thinking of nothing but well-being of the others. He stopped in front of the room he identifed as Max's, debating about whether or not he should just barge in or plan a sneak attack against the intruder.
"Don't make me shoot you, Tyson!"
He recognized the voice as belonging to Ray. The last thing Kai had expected was that the perpetrator was one of them, let alone the one that he felt understood him the most. Muttering a string of Russian swears, he tried to recall a time when Ray had exhibited any signs of sociopathic tendencies, but found that he couldn't find any. After all, he asked himself, who didn't want to hit Tyson after a while?
Cursing himself for hesitating, Kai kicked open the door. Sure enough, there stood Max and Tyson, with Ray standing in front of them.
A water gun in his hand.
"Oh, hey, Kai!" Tyson greeted, waving his own blue water pistol. "I didn't know you were coming back today!"
"Hey, Kai!" Max shouted a little louder than necessary. "Wanna play Cops and Robbers with us?"
"...What?"
Ray nodded enthusiastically. "I'm the cop and Tyson and Max are the robbers! You should'a been here earlier! We had this huge gunfight in the living room!"
"Yeah! It was awesome!" Tyson exclaimed, recalling the memory into his mind. "But we broke the vase that Hilary gave us." His expression turned into one of sadness if only for a moment before breaking into a giant grin. "Wanna play? Do ya? Do ya? Huh, huh?"
In response, Kai muttered a colorful sentence before closing the door and returning downstairs.
That was the LAST time he was going to trust Ray with the key to his candy collection.
I hope you liked it! It was basically a spur-of-the-moment, I-don't-know-what-I-was-thinking type thing.
Oh! I also got the name "House of Whacks" from the episode of Shin-chan, haha.
Please review! :)
