Scavenger Hunt!

Disclaimer: I do not own K-On! or any of the characters in this story.

A/N: I was inspired by XKCD comic #572, Together. Hence, I do not claim that the idea of such a scenario belongs to me. This is just going to be a nice, short story, and my English isn't the best, but I hope you enjoy it!

Translation Note: Shiawase, 幸せ. Happiness, bliss, no real direct translation. If you know Japanese, you'll get what I mean.

Creak... Creak...

The woman rocked back and forth on the creaky swing.

Creak... Creak...

She stared at the sky, alone in the deserted playground. As she did, the sky turned from a timid blue to a bright shade of orange.

As the sun set, she eased herself out of the swing, brushing her long, straight hair behind her shoulders. With long, calloused fingers, she grabbed the gig bag lying on the floor and made her way back home.

With each step she took along the familiar route, she could hear voices. Happy voices, sad voices, joking voices, angry voices. Four voices, in fact, not counting her own. She could hear the nicknames, the teasing, the scolding, as clearly as if it was yesterday.

As she stood in front of her front door, she paused to get herself ready. Her left index finger traced two lines on her right palm, and she promptly "ate" her right hand. (She didn't really eat it, of course, why would anyone think that?)

Taking a deep breath, she fished inside her pocket for her key, and slowly unlocked the door. As she opened the door, she had no time to even let out her breath before-

"BOO!"

Crash!

...

"Oh damn, she really did faint."

Fifteen minutes of panic, shouting and shaking later, the woman found herself awake lying on a comfortable couch.

"Hnnnn..."

With a groan, she pushed herself into a sitting position and opened her eyes. She registered with only a little surprise that a strap had been slung around her body. She stood, feeling the familiar weight of Elizabeth on her right shoulder. She looked up and smiled at the four familiar faces in front of her. Although all of the heads in front of her were decorated with the same shade of grey, she could tell who was who from their faces alone - an incredible feat no one else could perform.

A baby-faced woman with two oddly bright hairclips smiled a wide, goofy grin at her.

A normally strict-faced woman with two long pigtails was also smiling, although her eyes did not share the goofiness of the first woman's.

A dreamy-faced woman with abnormally large eyebrows also gave her a warm smile.

Furthest away, but yet the clearest, a playful-faced woman with a bright yellow hairband on her head gave her the widest grin yet.

The woman behind the drums beat her drumsticks together, and with a voice belonging to a girl 30 years younger, cried, "One, Two, One Two Three Four!"

Her eyes brimmed with tears. They were not tears of anguish or depression, but something much brighter. In her right hand, she held a battered piece of loose leaf note paper. The title of the paper read, "Scavenger Hunt Round 306! - The Great Ritsu vs The Dangerous Queen!"

With a grin, she moved her left hand forward, and the pencil marked a satisfactory circle around the last point on the list. "Shiawase."

"Thank you, everyone, for the best birthday present ever."

Akiyama Mio leaned back in her chair, enjoying her 50th birthday.

Or rather, the 34th year of the best life ever.

A/N: I hope you liked the story! My writing skills aren't the best, so I hope they weren't too much of a put-off. Please review if you have any comments to make!

If you didn't get it, by the way, Mio joined the Light Music Club when she was 16. So, when she reaches 50, she would have been with the others for 34 years.
